If you are passionate about empowering individuals to succeed in their careers and are eager to contribute to a dynamic team, we encourage you to apply.

Established in 2018, the CoEIB is committed to providing exceptional educational opportunities that prepare students and professionals for success in the dynamic field of biotechnology. We leverage Penn State's vast student population and expertise to create innovative programs that foster collaboration, innovation, and career advancement.

Working closely with the Center's Associate Director, the Education Program Specialist will advance the Center's mission of:

  • creating a pipeline of talent for the dynamic, rapidly growing field of biotechnology by capitalizing on one of Penn State's most significant differentiators-the size and breadth of its student populations.
  • delivering market-relevant workshops and educational opportunities for internal and external stakeholders that prepare them to have an impact on the work they are doing.
  • discovering, assessing, and deploying educational programs that are unique and world class.

Responsibilities: Specific responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Determine curriculum objectives and education-related performance competencies.
  • Develop and update course materials, as well as monitor, update, and disseminate program and course information.
  • Complete the required documentation necessary to support registrations, payments, cancellations, and contract requirements.
  • Create and implement marketing plans that effectively engage and promote educational programs and services (e.g., website content, presentations, communication channels).
  • Monitor budgets and assist in the development of program budgets to meet income and program targets. In addition, the Education Program Specialist may identify funding sources and assist in application and administration of gifts and grants.
  • Develop program assessment tools to evaluate program outcomes, review for gaps or issues, and make recommendations for improvements.
  • May identify and recruit instructional program personnel.
  • Complete other duties as assigned to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and support our workforce development objectives.

Education and Experience: At the minimum, this position requires a Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of a range of effective learning platforms, experience with project management, and the initiative to identify opportunities to expand or enhance the Center's workforce development impact. The successful candidate should demonstrate expertise in biotechnology while identifying, delivering, managing, and evaluating programs from conception to evaluation. Exceptional writing and communication skills are crucial for effectively collaborating with the CoEIB, its campus partners, and external stakeholders. Your ability to develop compelling messaging will help differentiate our workshops and attract a wider audience. Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel will also be essential for this role.

Application: Applications to submit a cover letter and a resume for full consideration.

This is a term appointment, funded for one year from the date of hire, with a possibility of renewal.

Work Arrangement: The College of Engineering is supportive of flexible work arrangements when aligned with the ability to meet the needs of the unit and the essential duties of the position. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.
