Position: Software Engineering for Robotics Co-Op Number of Positions: 2 Duration: 4 Months+ Dates: Jan-May 2025 Location: On-Site in Murray Hill, NJ The team you'll be part of Nokia AIMS is a venture within the incubator with a start-up-style team mixing R&D and business skills that is building a best-in-class and disruptive solution for inventory monitoring in large-scale warehouses using autonomous indoor drones. Our team is mainly in Murray Hill, New Jersey but collaborates as part of a wider international team. Education Recommendations Master's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline from a leading college/university. As a Software Engineering Co-Op for Robotics, you will be involved in both the development of cutting-edge robotics software and robust data processing solutions. You will contribute to drone localization and navigation tasks which involve computer vision, planning, controls, and sensor fusion algorithms in simulation and embedded hardware. Alongside this, you may also be responsible for creating data visualization dashboards and developing back-end services that scale across multiple customer locations to enable autonomous drone solutions to support our ETL needs for AIMS robotics. As part of our team, you will: Develop back-end services to support algorithmic processing and data analysis. Understand requirement specifications, software architectures, and agile development cycles. Design and implement software and algorithms for computer vision-based drone localization in large-scale indoor environments. You will have access to state-of-the-art simulation tools for robotics use cases. Undertake testing to identify and address vulnerabilities, ensuring a resilient software framework. Deploy error and bug-free software to production according to software development best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and integrate software solutions seamlessly. Contribute to the development of comprehensive documentation for software architecture, deployment procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Proficient in Python, C++, and Object-Oriented software design Knowledge of APIs and RESTful interfaces. Development experience with and implementation on embedded platforms such as Qualcomm, TI, or Nvidia devices. Knowledge, understanding, and prior experience with developing robotics algorithms, coordinate transformations, Robot Operating Systems (ROS), Linux, and robotics simulation platforms like Nvidia Isaac Sim. It would be nice if you also had: Experience with software version control (git) and comfortable working in an agile and distributed development team (issue reporting, tracking, development sprints, code reviews). Experience with designing and building DataOps pipelines and solutions, and time-series databases Experience with tools like Foxglove, PlotJuggler, or other similar data visualization tools. Understanding of software integration and deployment strategies, including CI/CD pipelines and containerization (Docker). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of state estimation, image processing, visual serving, robust/adaptive controls Experience with OpenCV, TensorFlow, PyTorch Problem-solving skills, self-starter, highly motivated, and team player.
