Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Marketing at the Program on Negotiation (PON) at Harvard Law School, the Marketing Associate serves as a key member of the marketing team (both internal and external teams) and is responsible for developing, managing, and executing marketing programs that assure that PON's large, global, audience receives the highest quality editorial content and enables PON to generate significant revenue through sponsorship of Executive Education programs that support PON's research and academic programs.

A successful candidate will be a well-organized professional with experience running a database content marketing, has experience managing and optimizing content for search engines, has experience with Google analytics and is capable of understanding and interpreting digital marketing analytical reports.  This role is responsible managing editorial, and  analysis and for managing our website that drives registration for all of our 17 executive education programs, and for working with PON's program delivery teams.  In addition, the Marketing Associate will work with other PON teams (the Teaching Resource Center, the Negotiation Briefings multiplatform newsletter, PON Global and any other new products and services that require marketing programs.

Primary Responsibilities
Editorial Management

  •  PON's posting and editorial email schedule is robust and includes five digital editorial campaigns and updating, and optimizing 18 posts per week.
  •  Determine new content needs based on analytics that drive traffic to the website.
  •  Create quarterly calendar that updates and rotates blockbuster posts

    Email Marketing

  •  Use the Email Performance Report (EPR) to determine monthly marketing plans through in depth analysis of prior history as it relates to opens, clicks and revenue. Send 5 promotional emails per week.

    Data Analysis

  •  PON employs a data driven marketing strategy.  At least 15 key metrics (traffic, conversions, open rates, revenue per thousand, engagement, blockbuster share, to name a few) must be monitored, analyzed and acted upon each month.

    Assure consistency and quality of brand and content

  •  Work with Managing Director and Marketing Director to assure consistency and quality of brand and content.

    Link Building

  •  Linkbuilding is now part of the optimization process and now requires several internal links per post.

    Social Media

  •  Use CoSchedule to manage comprehensive social media program.

    Website Management

  •  Work closely with the web development team to assure consistency, quality control, and optimum availability for the website. Work closely with team on web page and floater development and testing strategies. Adhere to website Best Practices


    Basic Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor's degree with five to seven years plus of progressive experience in a business or marketing environment.
  •  Experience developing and implementing content and SEO driven marketing programs, as well as an appreciation and understanding of the importance of data driven decision making regarding content development.
  •  Basic familiarity with Word press, HTML, What Counts or other similar email marketing systems.

    Additional Qualifications:

  •  Experience operating a content marketing system the same as, or similar to a Mequoda Content Marketing.
  •  Should possess the ability to set priorities and manage competing demands.
  •  Experience working in an academic setting with a strong knowledge or interest in negotiation theories and practices a plus.
  •  Strong written and verbal communications skills and comfort working with excel/marketing data and previous experience creating digital content strategy as well as experience managing external teams.
  •  Ability to work independently as well as a team and community member.
  •  Enthusiastic attitude toward all parties and a desire to manage marketing campaigns using data analysis.
  •  Superior prople skills and the skills and ability to collaborate with diverse communities
  •  Goal driven with the ability to adapt to change and to new opportunities
