Product Manager, Payments

A little about us:

Yahoo makes the world's daily habits inspiring and entertaining. By creating highly personalized experiences for our users, we keep people connected to what matters most to them, across devices and around the world.

You will collaborate with internal and external business partners, other product managers, and engineers to maintain, improve, optimize, and extend Yahoo's Global Payment Platform, which supports credit card and other transactions, on multiple Yahoo products, for both consumers and advertisers, in more than a dozen countries around the world.

As a product manager, you will join a revenue-critical team to develop and support Yahoo's transaction and payment processing capabilities. The primary focus for this position is working closely with Yahoo Payments engineers and technical team members elsewhere in Yahoo and at our partners to document requirements and help manage the end-to-end design, development, execution, and support of a complex payments platform supported by a global network of partners in order to achieve ambitious roadmap goals. This position will collaborate closely with business, engineering, and product teams to deliver solutions that help Yahoo properties maximize revenue.

Responsibilities:

  •       Exercise initiative and ownership working with key stakeholders, including technical team members, to define, design, document, implement, and optimize payment strategies and solutions for Yahoo properties

  •       Document and maintain a roadmap and prioritized product backlog

  •       Pull and analyze data to drive decisions based on data, not assumptions

  •       Analyze business processes, identify areas for improvement, and design solutions to challenging payment use cases

  •       Work with a global network of partners, including payment processors, card brands, and service providers

  •       Champion needs of both internal and external users while balancing resources and net value to Yahoo; combine strong user advocacy with impeccable business judgment

  •       Plan and meet various project milestones; communicate issues and solutions effectively; consistently provide deliverables on schedule and on budget (both resources and costs)

  •       Understand larger payment ecosystem including technology, strategy, and industry trends; continually realign Yahoo Payments strategy and tactics to reflect quickly evolving payments industry

  •       Manage several P0 revenue-critical projects in parallel

    Minimum Job Qualifications:

  •       3+ years of product management experience with sustained history of delivering products that meet or exceed goals, on budget and on schedule

  •       Exceptional ability to function both tactically and strategically

  •       Very strong written and verbal communication skills; able to quickly document requirements and craft persuasive, data-driven presentations

  •       Adept at communicating with a wide range of technical, non-technical, and executive colleagues, including both internal and external stakeholders

  •       Analytical mindset with a strong bias toward using data to drive business decisions

  •       Power user of Powerpoint and Excel; SQL skills are nice to have

  •       Skilled multitasker, comfortable continually driving several high-priority projects to completion in parallel

  •       Proven ability to set priorities and triage tasks competing for resources

  •       Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to gain trust and authority at all levels of the organization

  •       Very motivated to improve both cost and resource efficiency of business processes; history of using "test and learn" iterative improvements to drive ongoing performance gains

  •       Must be a team player adept at working in cross-functional groups; willing to personally step in and resolve customer problems if needed

  •       Experience working on an Agile or Scrum team

  •       Bachelors in computer science, engineering or related technical field is required; top-tier MBA is a strong plus
