Job Summary The Human Resources unit in the ACES Business Office is seeking candidates for the position of Human Resources Generalist II/III. The individual in this position provides varied and high level professional and technical support to the ACES Business Office by assisting in administration and implementation of the delivery of human resources related programs and projects within the Alabama Cooperative Extension System.

As a member of a cross-functional team, the HR Generalist will work collaboratively with all levels of management to implement HR policies, practices and procedures and employ a broad range of human resources experience and competencies. This role is part of the ACES Business Office Team and delivers solutions in key areas, such as training and development, performance management, and payroll processing. The primary functions include guiding career development support for ACES leaders and employees and developing training and individual development planning that aligns with strategic objectives of ACES. Additionally, the HR Generalist will manage the payroll functions to include processing bi-weekly and monthly payroll for the System; providing benefit consultation and payroll guidance to employees, managers and timekeepers; processing electronic personnel action forms(EPAF's) for ACES; develops and coordinates on-boarding programs; ensure that performance evaluations and probationary period review forms are completed and tracked; maintains personnel database.

The HR Generalist will be responsible for staying current with related federal and state laws as well as applicable policies for ACES, AAMU and AU. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, implementation and evaluation of training, social and collaborative learning activities to ensure that ACES staff have the knowledge, skills and abilities to competently perform their jobs. Performs other duties as assigned.  

Minimum Qualifications Entry into the applicant pool requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Human Resources, Business Management, Business Administration, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Education, or other related fields/disciplines; 2 years of experience working in human resources management and a working knowledge of all HR functions (i.e. talent acquisition, employee investigations, policy development, performance management, organizational development, payroll and benefits, etc.). Employer will consider advanced degrees in lieu of experience.

Incumbent must have demonstrated success in developing and delivering effective training programs; experience with managing a learning management system; demonstrated ability to conduct needs assessment and develop individual development plans; strong analytical skills and attention to detail; effective oral and written communication, including strong presentation skills; excellent interpersonal, coaching and negotiation skills are essential; ability to work both independently and collaboratively; ability to work with individuals at all levels and from diverse and varied backgrounds; ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and deadlines; ability to handle sensitive and confidential documents; ability to handle multiple activities; ability to utilize HRIS to query, analyze, and prepare various reports; proficiency with MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, SharePoint or equivalent) and HR systems (Banner and KRONOS) are essential.
