Position Summary and Key Responsibilities: Primarily responsible for providing data/information entry through into Transfusion Medicine's donor/patient computer information system (Safetrace) related to blood product collection for Donor/Apheresis Center and mobile blood drives, and for serving as Registrars for blood/platelet donors presenting at Blood Donor Center. As Registrar, serves as the initial customer service contact with all donors, answers donor questions relating to donation process, and ensures all initial donor information is accurately entered into computer system. Responsible for file and chart maintenance, running daily reports for distribution to various functional areas, and ensuring completeness of records to be entered into system.
Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan. Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:
Minimum Education: High School or equivalent. Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.
Minimum Experience: 2 years of computer data entry.
Preferred Education: Business School or other course work in computer operations.
Preferred Courses/Training: Experience with Information Systems.
Skills: Excellent oral/written communication and organizational skills, F oster and promote a positive image/attitude and professional appearance, Ability to work well with co-workers and ability to take instructions from supervisors, managers, charge nurse or designee, Must be able to multi-task, Ability to work with minimal supervision, Attention to detail, accuracy and completeness are essential, Proficiency in use of Informational computer systems, accurate data entry, executing commands and print batch jobs.
Physical Demands: Light physical effort (lift up to 25 lbs); Daily, prolonged sitting up to 6 hours; Daily reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling for filing purposes; Works at tasks involving focused concentration; Continuous keyboard entry; Works well with co-workers and able to take instructions from supervisors, managers, charge nurse or designee.
