Lone Star College-System Office employees are based at one of two System Office locations; The Woodlands and University Park.  Both are the site for multiple administrative departments and system-wide training programs.

This position is located at the LSC-System Office at 5000 Research Forest Drive, The Woodlands, Texas 77381

Position Summary

As the receptionist for System Office Human Resources, this position acts as the initial contact person and representative of the Human Resources department. Performs standard administrative support duties and ensures a customer friendly environment, providing excellent customer service at all times. Activities are generally routine and may be repetitive .

Job Functions

  1. Greets all visitors to HR enthusiastically and professionally. Answers questions within scope ofresponsibility, or directs higher-level questions and issues to the appropriate area as needed.

  2. Answers in-coming phone calls and emails responding to basic questions and/or forwarding callsand issues to appropriate parties as needed.

  3. Performs basic administrative support functions, including but not limited to schedulingconference rooms, receiving and logging information, making copies, sorting and distributing mail,preparing basic correspondence or documents, answering routine questions, providing informationand directions, and taking and delivering messages for HR employees.

  4. Maintains neat/organized work area at all times.

  5. May contact outside emergency organizations such as fire, EMS or police if an emergency isindicated.

  6. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of related work experience, or an equivalentcombination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Ability to maintain a positive and courteous attitude and professional demeanor at all times.

  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer-service skills

  • Ability and willingness to learn new hardware and software (HR computer programs, scanners, multiple phone line phones, date-stamper, etc.)

  • Good organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products

  • Strong worth ethic, as well as reliability and dependability

Physical Abilities

  • Minimal physical effort is required.

Salary

Hourly Pay Rate is $7.69 (not to exceed 19.5 hours).

Work Schedule & Conditions

PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment.

Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position.

Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards.

The shifts are as follows:

1 - 8am - 11am

2 - 11am - 2pm

3 - 2pm - 5pm
