The Asset Management Division manages a double-bottom line portfolio of real estate properties and non-traditional assets across all five boroughs of New York City. The division's Transportation Systems group oversees a suite of freight, aviation, cruise, ferry, and maritime assets, moving people and goods with a focus on creating a fair return for the City, promoting economic growth, supporting quality jobs and access to opportunity, and reducing the transportation system's impact on our infrastructure and environment.

Your Role: Reporting to the Vice President of Ferries and Maritime, you will be responsible for daily oversight of the multi-million dollar contract underpinning the New York City Ferry (NYCF) service, a public-private partnership carrying millions of passenger trips per year across six new City-sponsored ferry routes. Playing a pivotal role in this signature new initiative, the NYCF Contract Manager will track the finances and payments associated with the project; ensure contract compliance; and manage effective and organized communications and documentation between EDC and the operator, the public, and other relevant agencies.


  • Oversee invoicing and payments for all ferry-related contract matters;
  • Manage the master ferry budget and report weekly on approved, committed, paid, invoiced, accrued monies and variances;
  • Ensure insurance compliance;
  • Monitor other NYCF-related (sub)contracts or costs such as shuttle bus and third-party homeport contracts, third-party time charter agreements, etc.;
  • Handle and coordinate the issuance of ferry landing berthing requests and agreements, including scheduling;
  • Establish and perform document control procedures for all records including contracts, amendments, official correspondence, etc.;
  • Manage system metric reporting for internal City stakeholders, the National Transit Database, and other federally mandated reporting programs;
  • Manage responses to all Freedom of Information requests;
  • Track and manages all requests for information and official correspondence between EDC and the NYCF operator;
  • Other project management responsibilities, as assigned.


  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent in business administration, finance, real estate management, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in related industry or profession.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong quantitative and problem solving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present critical information to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects against tight time lines in a team environment.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • New York City residency is required within 180 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in finance, business, real estate management, maritime commerce, transportation, urban planning, public policy or a related field.
  • Highest degree of independent judgement, ability to identify and respond to work and circumstances as required without oversight and the ability to generate and implement new ideas.
  • Previous experience in management of a major services contract.
  • Transportation industry knowledge or strong interest in the transportation industry.
  • Real estate experience in the transportation, logistics, infrastructure or maritime industries.
  • Familiarity with Management Reports International (MRI) software.
