The Salesforce Content & Communications Experience team is hiring a Senior Manager/Manager of Software Engineering to lead the development of our product and technology content infrastructure, tools, and publishing.

As a leader you will manage a scrum team or teams responsible for designing, coding and maintaining our content tools. You will be responsible for hiring and retaining the best engineering talent around, growing your team and the people on it, and helping guide the technical direction.


Responsibilities
As the CCX Engineering Manager of the team responsible for modernizing and maintaining our content creation tools and publishing technologies. You'll

  • Provide technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members so they do the best work of their lives. Be accountable for not only the work the team does but the people on the team.
  • Drive the standards and execution of continuous integration and continuous deployment for the products your team owns
  • Work with product managers and business stakeholders to develop short- and long-term strategies for our next generation of content tools.
  • Own and refine the engineering roadmap to support initiatives and systematically eliminate tech debt to create scalable products.
  • Lead development teams in a full-service ownership model following Agile methodologies.
  • Recruit and continue to grow our team by hiring folks who are smart, talented, and a pleasure to work with an eye to Diversity. Assess the performance of your direct reports.
  • Engage with the Core Engineering, Infrastructure, Business Technology(BT) and other CCX Engineering teams to develop an integrated modernization strategy for our internal and external content delivery.
  • Ensure the security of our tools and processes and the availability of our internal and external content.
  • Work effectively as part of a geographically distributed team

Required Skills:
This opportunity is excellent for experienced managers who have shown the ability to lead and influence teams.

  • BS/MS degree in CS or EE or closely related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in software development, including 5+ years experience in SaaS, PaaS or IaaS software development
  • 3+ years of direct people management experience, with at least 5 direct reports.
  • Passion and ability to lead, motivate and grow teams of developers in a challenging, dynamic and global environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational and time management skills.
  • 3 years Agile development leadership as Scrum master or Kanban master.
  • Comfort taking on new projects and technologies both individually and as part of a team
  • 5+ years demonstrated expertise working with content publishing systems in large-scale, global environments with localization into multiple languages and deployment in multiple formats to multiple publication end points, including knowledge of technologies such as Swagger, MarkDown, XML authoring and publishing systems
  • Hands-on professional programming experience in one of the following: Java, Javascript, Node.js, C++ or Python.
  • Solid knowledge of professional software engineering best practices including coding standards, code reviews, SCM, CI/CD, build processes, testing, and operations.

Desired Skills:

  • Good understanding of private and public cloud design considerations, infrastructure, distributed systems, load balancing, networking, massive data storage, and security.
  • Solid foundation in design, data structures and algorithms, and strong analytical and debugging skills with customer-facing products experience.
  • Development experience using Open Source and Web technologies
  • Experience managing systems with 24x7 availability
  • Large systems software design and development experience
  • Experience with Salesforce Product Development or Implementation experience.
