The role
We're looking for a senior-level architect to build upon SoFi's new investment platform, providing technical guidance as well as architectural best practices. SoFi Invest is SoFi's new investment platform that includes our market-leading robo-advisor, online brokerage (stock and ETF trading), and crypto investing products.
On our team, you will be in the middle of it all - implementing new functionality, architecting our system, squashing bugs, maintaining the health of our code, and continually growing as an engineer. You will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from ideation through building, testing, deploying, monitoring and supporting mission critical systems. You'll face and solve a wide range of challenges: technical, product, and operational, shaping your personal growth and career along the way.
What you'll do:
Must be able to deliver high quality code on schedule, communicate with groups in and outside the development team.
Define best practices and uphold coding standards
Consistently demonstrate extremely high levels of technical knowledge, ingenuity and creativity. Develops and applies advanced technologies, engineering principles, theories and concepts. Broad knowledge about the design and operation of systems outside of specialty.
Work within the Engineering team to develop features that specifically benefit our users.
Work cross functionally with other teams to help make their features fully accessible to all users. This role offers a unique chance to touch virtually every feature in SoFi's digital touchpoints.
Raise the bar on technical excellence and mentor other engineers.
Define strategy for an entire product through continued expansion, production delivery, and a sustained high pace of new feature development.
Collaborate closely with Product Management on features to ensure that the possible product is delivered to SoFi customers.
Guide the organization through continued expansion, production delivery and a sustained high pace of new feature development.
Make critical decisions regarding technology selection, balance of feature and operational priorities, and setting high standards for quality and on-time delivery.
Define and execute against meaningful performance and operational SLAs that capture our customer experience.
Generate, enhance and promote ideas for useful new projects and technologies.
What you'll need:
Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or equivalent from a fully-accredited college or university
10+ years with Java (or another Object-Oriented Programming language) experience
3+ years experience managing teams
Affinity for solving problems and shipping impactful features, not polishing perfect code or architecture
Experience working with and managing teams operating across multiple offices
Ability to work in a fast paced and Agile development environment
Work and play well with others; SoFi is a collaborative environment
Nice to have:
Masters or PhD in Computer Science or Engineering
Financial services experience.
Options or crypto currency trading experience
Omnibus and self-clearing
Experience with building a Security master as well as automating the handling corporate actions
Experience with market data systems
Familiarity with systems for Agency and Principal trading systems including regulatory reporting
Experience with trading systems using FIX
Regulatory reporting, OATs, CAT, 606, Trade Reporting Facility (TRF)
Experience with common order types as well as time in force
Pricing and fractional trading
Experience with margin trading, margin maintenance requirements, and buying power calculations
Experience participating in audits by FINRA and SEC
Experience building highly available, scalable systems with self healing fallbacks to handle real time failures
Understanding of reconciliation with clearing firm systems as well as tools/systems to automate and support any exceptions
