Role overview:
Kiva Capital, Kiva’s asset management subsidiary that manages impact-first return bearing vehicles for the world’s leading impact investors is looking for a highly motivated Senior Fund Accountant (SFA) to join our team. The Senior Fund Accountant (SFA) will be a key member of the Kiva Capital Team and work directly with a large cross-section of teams, internally and externally, including the Investment Team, the Fund Administrator, Auditor & Tax Advisor, Operations and Risk, Investor Relations, and Finance Teams. The SFA will be responsible for the production of the Funds’ Financials and Capital Statements, the coordination of the Funds’ Audit and Tax reporting, loan administration, treasury and expense management and process documentation. The SFA will ensure accuracy of Fund P&L, NAV calculation, interest accruals and payments, and will be performing all aspects of day-to-day Fund Accounting/Operations for Kiva Capital.

Specific Responsibilities:

Fund Accounting/Fund Administration

  • Provide regular transaction documentation, interest/accrual calculation/backup, and valuation information to the Fund Administrator on a periodic basis.
  • Prepare various work papers and reconciliations related to Kiva Capital Funds’ investment activities, fee calculations, fund’s expense accruals and asset valuations.
  • Maintain the books and records for Kiva Capital Funds in accordance with the Offering Memorandum and/or other Fund Documents.
  • Prepare and review management fees, waterfall calculations, portfolio valuation and price verification in compliance with Kiva Capital’s Funds’ governing documents.

Loan Administration

  • Track Kiva Capital Funds’ credit investments; understand credit investment terms.
  • Support Kiva Capital Funds’ credit facility drawdowns and repayments; prepare periodic reporting, calculate/track interest and principal payments.
  • Prepare and monitor repayment schedules based on documents provided by Investment and Risk teams (loan agreements and hedge confirmations).
  • Maintain internal loan administration tool, monitor loan covenants and payment dates/amounts.
  • Interface with hedging counter party and banks to disburse and receive swap payments.
  • Keep Risk and Investment teams informed about timely or delayed payments.

Audit/Tax Support

  • Support annual audits of Kiva Capital funds by providing documentation as requested.
  • Document Kiva Capital funds’ accounting procedures and internal controls.
  • Review of audited and unaudited financials.
  • Support the preparation and filing of all tax returns, K-1s’and other ad-hoc requests by providing documentation and liaising with Kiva Capital funds’ tax preparers.

Liquidity/Treasury Management

  • Maintain and develop appropriate cash management process flows for Kiva Capital Funds.
  • Manage Kiva Capital funds’ bank accounts and related bank wires, in USD and/or local currencies, preparing and reviewing journal entries.
  • Setup, prepare, and execute expense, interest, and principal payments amongst Funds.
  • Support Fund cash forecasting and budgeting. Facilitate, execute, and monitor cash transactions, available cash, minimum cash.
  • Capital Call and distribution calculations and payments.

Risk/IR Support

  • Support the Risk and Investment teams in preparation of materials for, and participate in, the Kiva Capital ALM and Valuation committees.
  • Support the Risk team related to the preparation of quarterly valuations and fund models.
  • Support the Risk team in interfacing with hedge counter parties related to margin posting.
  • Support fundraising efforts, including preparation of diligence materials, and facilitating fund and investor onboarding during the closing of the fund.
  • Monitor subscriptions/redemptions/transfers.

Role Requirements:

  • BS/BA degree in accounting, finance, economics or a related field.
  • Advanced degree and/or CPA are preferable. CFA also considered.
  • 5+years’ of relevant investment and/or fund accounting experience in asset management or a fund administrator. Experience with alternative investments is preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of various financial instruments, especially emerging market private debt investments and partnerships.Basic knowledge of Level 3 valuation methodologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple demands and competing deadlines; disciplined, detail-oriented and accountable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Kiva’ mission of financial inclusion.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Powerpoint.
