General Information:

James Madison University's Facilities Management is accepting applications for a Housekeeping Utility Worker. The regular schedule is Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., with an altered summer schedule and overtime as required to cover special events and inclement weather.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Responsible for the proper installation of toilet paper, soap, and paper towel dispensers in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines to ensure accessibility and ease of use for all individuals.
* Manages the hands-on installation of chemical dispensers.
* Prepare and inspect installation sites to ensure they meet necessary specifications for each type of dispenser.
* Lead and train the crew in proper installation.
* Lead, plan and schedule the cleaning and maintenance of carpets, rugs, upholstery, and a variety of hard floor surfaces, including vinyl, tile, and hardwood floors.
* Properly using and maintaining carpet cleaning machines, vacuums, floor buffers, strippers, and other equipment.
* Conducts inspections of university buildings to ensure cleanliness.
* Uses the system CompuClean to ensure the buildings are being inspected on a regular schedule.
* The employee in this position will be considered designated, meaning the work performed is essential to university operations and the employee will be required to work during periods of authorized closings.

Qualifications:

Required:
* Familiarity with toilet paper, paper towel, soap, and chemical dispenser systems or similar technology.
* An understanding of basic customer service concepts such as friendliness, responsiveness and attention to detail.
* Some knowledge of or aptitude for cleaning techniques.
* Ability to work well with others and independently.
* Ability to lift 75 pounds with or without an accommodation.
* Must be 19 years of age with a valid driver's license held for a minimum of 24 months with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.
