Job Overview Hubbell PCX seeks a Sr. Design Engineer to become part of our dynamic engineering team. This position will be located in Knightdale, North Carolina. Hubbell PCX Corporation is the leading designer and integrator of engineered and pre-fabricated electrical/mechanical systems for the modular data center, commercial, and industrial markets. Our product offerings include but are not limited to Modular Data Centers, Power Equipment Centers, Custom Integrated Switchboards, and pre-manufactured indoor/outdoor Electrical Distribution Centers. We are seeking innovative and talented professionals to join our team. The Senior Design Engineer will lead the engineering team and be responsible for the most challenging design tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering design, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for developing efficient, high-quality mechanical and electrical solutions. A Day In The Life Lead the design and development of modular, skid-based low-voltage switchgear systems or mechanical systems tailored for data center applications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, production, and sales to ensure project requirements are met. Utilize advanced engineering techniques and tools to create efficient, reliable, and cost-effective designs. Conduct and oversee detailed design calculations and simulations to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer specifications. Prepare comprehensive engineering documentation, including design drawings, specifications, and technical reports. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff. Stay abreast of technological advancements and changes in relevant standards to continually improve product design and functionality. Manage multiple projects independently and simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints. Participate in customer meetings, providing technical expertise and support during the pre-sales and post-sales process. Lead the testing and validation of new designs, ensuring they meet all required performance criteria. What will help you thrive in this role? Bachelor's degree Mechanical Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred. Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical design engineering, with a strong focus on low voltage switchgear systems. Proven experience in the design and development of switchgear for data centers. Proficient in engineering software (e.g., 2-D AutoCAD, 3-D SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent) Familiarity with Revit, FEA/CFD software tools, and Electrical analysis tools (ETAP, SKM, etc.) Strong understanding of relevant industry standards (e.g., IEEE, NEC, UL, ETL). Working Knowledge of ASCE, ASME, ASTM, ASHREA Standards. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically. Strong leadership skills and experience in managing engineering teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple concurrent projects.
