Job Description

Event Operations Lead Houseperson

You represent Fairmont Century Plaza with enthusiasm and pride, providing exceptional service and attention to each guest you encounter. You will encourage your teammates to exceed the standards by setting the example. You are entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the best possible experience for your guests at all times, and to assist the Event Operations team in ensuring Events services exceed Accor and Fairmont Century Plaza standards. You must be flexible with the type of work needed to be done as well as hours worked including, but not limited to, mornings, nights, weekends and holidays based on event business.

What you will be doing:

  • Supervise and assist Housepersons with set up to ensure compliance with event specifications on the Banquet Event Orders
  • Set up, refresh, and break-down after events. Have an outlook on what the following day setups entail to plan accordingly with equipment needs and set up the next shift for success
  • Assist Housepersons with and oversee tasks including, but not limited to: dusting, polishing banquet equipment, vacuuming, sweeping, removing stains on meeting rooms carpet, polishing glasses for water stations
  • Organizing event storage rooms, removing and disposing of meeting room trash, package delivery to meeting rooms, transporting client equipment to/from loading dock or between meeting rooms, quarterly event equipment inventory
  • Coordinate with Encore as well as outside A/V teams on set-up schedules for ballroom stage, risers, and timeline to drop tables and other banquet equipment necessary
  • Greet clients and guests prior to meeting/event start time. Respond to inquiries

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Previous Event Houseperson experience with a minimum one (1) year in a Supervisor role at a luxury hotel
  • Ability to lift, carry and transport relatively heavy equipment
  • A friendly, positive attitude with good communicational skills
  • Stays calm under pressure, with an ability to problem solve in a fast paced environment
  • Strong cross functional team player
  • Responsive, with a sense of urgency
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment and handle multiple groups/events simultaneously
  • Able to communicate with clients and guests in a professional manner
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to 8 hours in length
  • Continuous standing and walking throughout shift
  • Continuous bending, carrying, lifting, twisting
