Implements of programs and services that support student counseling, progress, career planning, and well-being for M3 and M4 students
-Serves as primary contact, advisor, and counselor for all M3 and M4 students
-Helps to create and implement policy decisions that affect students' academic studies, health, and well-being
-Collaborates with Associate and Assistant Deans to define and achieve annual goals for student affairs
-Fosters collaboration and cooperation within our university to nurture school-wide programs and mutual goals, and create positive and mutually beneficial collaborations with the Assistant Dean for Diversity,
SSOM faculty, course administrators, and staff
-Helps nurture social awareness in our culturally rich and diverse community and foster opportunities to raise sensitivities and improve cultural competencies in our student body
-Serves on school and university educational committees as appointed and participates in local, regional, and national educational conferences and serves on committees as requested
-Interfaces with faculty advisors and specialty advisors
-Contributes to the development of an Office of Student Affairs webpage
-Counsels and advices M3 and M4 students regarding academic progress and
USMLE performance outcomes
-Helps students resolve or cope with personal circumstances impacting personal well-being and academic progress
-Refers students to internal and external resources as needed, including personal counseling services and academic support services
-Identify student nominees for selective awards, scholarships, and outside recognition and collaborate in planning of annual honors programs
-Advises, interprets, and enforces student compliance with internal and external policies and is a resource of relevant policies and procedures for faculty and staff
-Fosters and creates positive and mutually beneficial pathways for interaction and collaboration with individual students, student groups, corporate student body, and student government
-Collaborates with the admissions office on the Academic Summer Program Integrating Resources for Excellence and other recruitment and pipeline programs; provides direct support for the Second Visit program
-Functions as the
SSOM liaison to the
AAMC Career in Medicine (CiM) program; collaborate with faculty advisor program and PCM3 and PCM4 course directors to insert and support CiM programing in the medical school curriculum
-Provides support to Associate and Assistant Deans with
MSPE (Dean's Letter) production and writing for M4 students in accord with national recommendations and with Match Week and
SOAP processes. Also, provides support to Assistant Dean for student CV writing and review project; assist in presenting CV writing guidelines to students
-Supports Associate Dean and Assistant Dean writing letters of recommendation for students for external education, enrichment, and scholarship opportunities
-Represents Associate Dean and Assistant Dean as delegated
-Other duties as assigned |
