Manager of SHWB Data Informatics/Systems Analyst

Reporting to the Director of Student Health & Well-Being Systems, Data and Reporting Strategy. We are seeking a Manager of SHWB Data Informatics/Systems Analyst.

The Johns Hopkins University Student Health & Well-Being (SHWB) Practice Group provides holistic services that are accessible, inclusive, equitable, and high quality to foster a proactive, supportive culture and enhance students' and trainees' experience at Johns Hopkins University while preparing them to lead fulfilling personal and professional lives. Our integrated service delivery model provides dynamic health promotion and well-being support and programming, student disability services including guidance and resources, and in-person primary and mental health care options at our clinics as well as remote support through phone and online resources to JHU students and learners across all nine schools within the University.

We define well-being as an optimal and dynamic state that allows people and communities to achieve their full potential. By focusing on the whole - the whole person, the entire educational experience, the whole institution, the whole community - well-being becomes a multifaceted goal and a shared responsibility for the entire institution.

This position is a full-time position in the East Baltimore/ Homewood/ District of Columbia office with a requirement for availability to travel to other Baltimore area campuses and the DC campus for program delivery and in-person meetings when necessary. This position's central office will be at the Homewood campus and has a hybrid option (at least three days in-person, which may vary during the year and cycle of work).


Specific Duties & Responsibilities


Optimization & Reporting - 40%

  • Mine and analyze data from multiple sources and systems to provide insights for optimizing and improving SHWB services, programs, and operations.
  • Generate reports and data visualizations that offer insights to help senior staff and unit managers make decisions, budget, and forecast trends.
  • Create and maintain functional internal and external facing dashboards for monitoring key performance indicators, outcomes, and other metrics.
  • Construct and maintain a dictionary/ library and a system of organizing reports to improve efficiency and eliminate duplications.
  • Review reports generated to ensure accuracy. Serve as a liaison between technical staff, administrators, clinicians/ providers/ coordinators.

Data Analysis - 30%

  • Supervise program evaluation and research of SHWB initiatives that cut across departments within the SHWB division.
  • Construct studies from beginning to end, including a review of relevant literature.
  • Formulate relevant research and program evaluation questions.
  • Collect and monitor data; conduct appropriate quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Interpret results; create evaluation reports and presentations for the appropriate audience.
  • Serve as liaison and resource for department-specific evaluation and research.


Technology - 30%

  • Information: Good working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records, healthcare IT systems, and related workflows.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare integration and data exchange between EMR and other applications.
  • Coordinate support for SHWB systems, including liaising with University Student Services (USS) IT Services and Central IT and EPIC Team.
  • Collaborate closely with the EPIC Team to facilitate interfaces and updates to systems adapted to SHWB staff workflows, optimizing productivity and reducing errors.
  • Become an expert on the EMR (Point and Click), the SDS Accommodations Information Management System (AIM), and other SHWB systems training and helping users maximize their functions.
  • Monitor compliance on new joiners and ongoing training across departments and centers.
  • Deep understanding of data privacy regulations and practices, including HIPAA regulations.


Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Demonstrated commitment to leadership in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills, including generating organized reporting tools and statistics.
  • Knowledge of data mining/ management and data collection instruction processes.
  • Expert with big data technologies and cloud platforms, preferably in health-related fields.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, specifically in presenting complex data to various audiences.
  • Ability to work independently, assess situations, and respond appropriately and with team collaboration.
  • Requires a willingness to accept change and demonstrate flexibility.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Seven years of experience.
  • Additional education (Master's level) may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree preferred in information technology, informatics, data and computer science, public health, health sciences, or closely related fields.
  • Three to five years of experience in reporting, data management and analysis and must include data warehouse design and knowledge in project and information management within a health system preferred.
  • Experience working in a highly complex, decentralized, diverse environment.
