Position Summary

The College of Health Professions, Department of Lifestyle Medicine, invites applications for the position of Adjunct Lecturer to teach online courses in Lifestyle Medicine for the graduate level Lifestyle Medicine master's degree and certificate programs. Position requires the lecturer to be a content expert in the topic of lifestyle medicine and a healthcare professional. The position requires developing and presenting material in the department approved online format as well as assessing student performance. The lecturer will also advise students on their progress in the course and program based upon program expectations and interact with other program faculty and administrators related to program matters.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Develop and teach online courses in lifestyle medicine. Edit course materials as required to keep course content current. Facilitate and evaluate student learning in the online environment. Advise students as needed related to progress in the program or courses. Keep the program director appraised of any matters related to student performance, progress or course delivery.

All full-time faculty members employed by RFUMS are expected to engage in activities that are considered core to their primary role as a faculty member. These activities may include teaching, scholarly activity, and service.

Teaching responsibilities vary and may include:

  • Direct instruction
  • Curriculum management
  • Assessment
  • Advising and mentoring for students

Scholarly activities vary and may include:

  • Original scholarship
  • Grant procurement
  • Research mentoring

Service activities vary and may include internal and external contributions through:

  • Committees
  • Contributions to the profession
  • Recruitment
  • Direct patient care

Scholarly activities and/or clinical activities are negotiated and determined at the department level and are primarily based upon the faculty track.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check
  • Must have proof of COVID 19 vaccination or a university approved exemption

Required Education & Experience

  • Clinical doctoral degree or terminal doctoral degree in a healthcare field. Examples include MD, DPT, OTD, DNP, DSc, PhD, EdD, PharmD, etc.
  • Related experience in lifestyle medicine as it applies to lifestyle medicine patient education and/or clinical practice.
  • Experience in academic teaching of lifestyle medicine.
  • Must achieve satisfactory results from a background check

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Ability to develop and teach lifestyle medicine content that emphasizes the six pillars in an online platform. Knowledge of and experience with content of courses as assigned. Strong communication skills in the virtual environment. Ability to utilize technology and online learning management systems required for teaching.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree and hold related healthcare professional credentials with previous online teaching experience.
  • Experience with student performance assessment in the online environment.
  • American College of Lifestyle Medicine Board Certification
