We are looking for anOncology Data Specialistwith aminimum of 3 years of experience indata abstraction in the Cancer Registry

Location:Remote (US Wide)

What will you be doing:



  • Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) are data information specialists who capture a complete history, diagnosis, treatment, and health status for every cancer patient in the U.S.
  • Provide case finding, abstracting, follow-up and data processing in accordance with the state regulations & the Commission on Cancer (CoC) Standards.
  • Ensure that all Cancer Registry activities operate in accordance with departmental policies/ procedures.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of patient data stored in the Cancer Registry Database.
  • Must be detailed-orientated, with the ability to work independently.
  • Assist in coordinating client activities of the Cancer Registry in conjunction with the Cancer Committee and Tumor Conference, (if applicable for position).
  • Timely submission of expenditures and resource use (expense reports, timesheets, vacation and education requests) in accordance with budgetary guidelines.
  • Meets both daily quality and productivity standards



Requirements:



  • A minimum of 3-year of current data abstraction experience in the Cancer Registry
  • Cancer registry abstraction, data entry, and analysis
  • Successful completion of pre-employment skills assessment exam
  • A minimum of 1-year of current CoC Accredited Cancer Program experience - (Preferred)
  • Must have Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification.
  • A minimum of an Associate Degree in Health Information, or related field
  • Must be reliable, responsible and dependable.
  • Computer savvy with proficiency in EMR software and multiple registries database
  • Abide by strict confidentiality regulations as defined by HIPPA and company policy!Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), as well as highly organized, proficient time management and critical thinking skills
