For more than two decades the Office of Undergraduate Education has served as the focal point for innovative undergraduate academic programs and student support in the College of Arts and Sciences. The Office of Undergraduate Education builds partnerships and programs to fulfill Carolina's commitment to every student's success. Undergraduate Education has the responsibility for course delivery, advising, student success, assessment, and curriculum development.
Undergraduate Education is also leading the implementation of the new
IDEAS in Action general education core curriculum. The office includes several units, each with a full complement of personnel, roughly 130
FTE (Academic Advising, Center for Student Success, Undergraduate Curricula, Honors Carolina, Instructional Innovation,
UNC-Duke Robertson Scholars Leadership Program and Undergraduate Research). |
Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |

The Office of Undergraduate Education builds partnerships and programs to fulfill Carolina's commitment to every student's success.
Undergraduate Education has the responsibility for course delivery, advising, student success, assessment, and curriculum development. Undergraduate Education is also leading the implementation of the new
IDEAS in Action general education core curriculum. The office includes several units, each with a full complement of personnel, roughly 130
FTE (Academic Advising, Center for Student Success, Undergraduate Curricula, Honors Carolina, Instructional Innovation,
UNC-Duke Robertson Scholars Leadership Program and Undergraduate Research). The senior associate dean for Undergraduate Education works with the dean of the College of Arts & Sciences and their professional staff across campus who serve undergraduates. |
Position Summary |
The Business Services Coordinator offers comprehensive administrative and business operations support for programs and events in the division of Undergraduate Education (UE), primarily for the offices of Undergraduate Research (
OUR) and Undergraduate Curricula (
OUC). This position is the primary first contact for immediate support. In support of UE,
OUR, and
OUC this position will liaise with other departments to ensure timely and appropriate project completion and general office duties. Duties include planning and ensuring the success of all events as requested, coordinating room scheduling, budget management, event planning, summarizing and reconciling information or financial data, records and facilities management, and closely related functions. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
The successful candidate will have:
- General office management
- Event planning
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly both orally and in writing
- Time management skills
- Problem-solving ability
- Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail
- Proficiency in Zoom and Teams platforms for virtual meetings, workshops, and events
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to prioritize workflow and coordinate office activities
- Familiarity with university business guidelines and procedures
- Knowledge of budget and financial processes, including expense monitoring and budget preparation assistance |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience using key university information systems such as Infoporte and ConnectCarolina,
- Experience with university financial and accounting systems,
- Working knowledge of university business guidelines and procedures,
- Proven ability to analyze and interpret policy and procedural guidelines for use in advising students and faculty on requirements for programming, and
- Experience working with local vendors for event planning. |
