About the role:

Market Development Managers (MDM's) have accountability for the engagement and development of Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) across multiple specialties at large Academic Medical Centers (AMCs) or tertiary care centers in a specific geography. Taking a customer centric, clinically focused approach, the MDM team brings value to the organization (directly or indirectly) by enabling the achievement of both upstream and downstream business objectives. The associate director is responsible to establish the strategy and oversee the execution while recruiting, leading, and developing the team. They are strategic partners to our commercial leadership teams and non-commercial leaders with a keen focus on how our approach in the endoscopy space is being amplified with key market shapers. They will also play a significant role in our go to market in the US working closely with our field organizations while balancing the important partnership they need to have with our marketing and R&D FLT leaders for various technologies in the pipeline Additionally, some responsibilities of this role will extend globally to ensure the right KOL's are involved in the right projects and that we are bringing awareness of real-world global trends into decisions that could impact the short- and long-term strategy of our overall Endoscopy business. The associate director needs to be able to manage competing interests with the "north star" being what is best for Boston Scientific Endoscopy.

Your responsibilities will include:



  • Develops the vision for the function and defines short-term and long-term strategic plans to support the overarching business strategy and objectives for the division.
  • Leverages cross-functional knowledge in franchises/industry to influence complex business decisions.
  • Leads, coaches, mentors, develops, and organizes the structure of the MDM team. Creates a talent pipeline.
  • Manages KOLs and key customer relationships in partnership with the sales management team and senior division management.
  • Oversees the division's HCP engagement strategy and ensures that we have the right physicians involved in our priority projects globally.
  • Partners with our segment marketing organization to drive downstream initiatives in the US with our key accounts and KOL's supporting our AOP needs.
  • In partnership with R&D and the product management teams, explores, pursues, and recommends new product opportunities through Voice-of-Customer (VOC) research for the division's portfolio strategy.
  • Partners with cross-functional colleagues in the areas of Professional Education, Clinical research, Digital marketing, Product management, HEMA, and society initiatives.
  • Provides close partnership and insights/timely information for the Franchise Leadership Team (FLT) leaders and others to make informed decisions.
  • Challenges current assumptions appropriately with the FLT's and others by providing a deep knowledge of what could happen in the future via, KOL insights and specific real time marketplace data that is not in a chart or captured in the analytics.



Required Qualifications:



  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or related area.
  • 15+ years of successful marketing/sales experience within healthcare/medical device industry.
  • People leadership experience.
  • Excellent communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated success in collaboration.
  • Strong ability to prioritize, challenge and recognize broader benefits to the business may not always run parallel to short term successes.
  • Successful history of succeeding in a cross functional, highly matrixed.
  • Ability to understand short-, medium- and long-term strategy to translate this to greater organizational impact.
  • Willing to travel 40%, mainly domestic but with global travel as needed.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • MBA degree preferred
  • Both upstream and downstream marketing experience
  • Both sales and marketing experience
