The technical writing team at Collibra plays a crucial role in this mission by producing clear, precise, and user-focused documentation that enhances the product experience for a diverse range of users. Working closely with product managers, engineers, and UX designers, the team ensures that Collibra's documentation not only supports product functionality but also improves usability, helping users navigate complex data landscapes with confidence. Collibra's technical writers are highly collaborative, detail-oriented, and dedicated to continuously refining content based on user feedback, making them essential contributors to the overall product ecosystem.


Technical Writers are responsible for

  • Creating Clear, Accurate Documentation: Writing, editing, and structuring technical documents, such as user guides, product overviews, and release notes, that meet the organization's style standards.
  • Maintaining Quality and Consistency: Reviewing content for completeness, accuracy, and consistency, ensuring deliverables align with usability best practices and business goals.
  • Mentoring and Collaboration: Mentoring junior writers, providing constructive peer reviews, and actively engaging in cross-functional collaboration with product, UX, and engineering teams to gather information and improve documentation.
  • User-Centric Feedback Integration: Proactively gathering and analyzing customer feedback and using insights to refine documentation and improve user experience.
  • Project Management: Prioritizing tasks, managing timelines effectively, and adjusting deliverables to accommodate shifting priorities and deadlines.


You have

  • A Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in technical writing, with strong expertise in tools such as MadCap Flare and Git, and familiarity with Agile development environments.
  • Strong project management abilities, enabling you to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • The ability to learn new technologies quickly and a keen eye for detail.

  • User-Focused: Empathetic to user needs, always considering usability best practices and focusing on producing content that enhances user understanding.
  • Collaborative and Solution-Oriented: Effective in working with cross-functional teams and contributing valuable insights about user experience, as well as supporting product and design decisions.


Measures of success

  • Within Your First Month: Build foundational knowledge of Collibra's products, tools, and style guides. Connect with product managers, engineers, and UX designers to understand the product landscape and document key workflows. Review existing documentation to identify immediate improvement areas.
  • Within Your Third Month: Gain a deeper understanding of your assigned product area and its user workflows. Strengthen relationships with stakeholders, actively participate in cross-functional discussions, and make targeted enhancements to documentation based on early feedback and analysis.
  • Within Your Sixth Month: Achieve deep expertise in your product area, contributing to strategic documentation initiatives. Lead usability improvements in documentation, integrate user feedback to refine content, and establish yourself as a go-to resource for product knowledge and technical guidance.


Compensation for This Role

The standard base salary range for this position is $96,000 - $110,000 per year. This position is not eligible for additional commission-based compensation. Salary offers are based on a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skills, and location.

In addition to base salary, we offer equity ownership at every level, bonus potential, a Flex Fund monthly stipend, pension/401k plans, and more.
