Job Description |
The purpose of this position is to support the Academic Affairs division by overseeing internal and external reporting, including mandated state and federal reporting, and responding to requests from Academic Affairs leadership, faculty, and staff.
This is accomplished by:
- utilizing and adapting as needed existing computer programs to extract, compile, summarize, and analyze data from College databases
- creating new computer programs as needed
- preparing presentations
- compiling documentation
- and maintaining records and files.
This position also serves on the Assessment Team and supports the academic assessment process, including program review.
Other duties include overseeing survey administration and analysis, including collaboration with Institutional Effectiveness staff in survey administration protocols; and participating on College committees as assigned.
This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position and includes a comprehensive benefits package offering medical, dental and vision coverage; generous paid time off; tuition assistance; and retirement savings.This position will require work performed regularly on campus.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Required Experience |
A minimum of 1 year of related professional experience in a higher education setting is required, including statistical research, data extraction and analysis, and report creation. |
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities |
- Experience analyzing higher education data
- Ability to extract, merge, and transform data from a variety of databases into formats needed for analysis and reporting
- Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative analysis and methodologies
- Ability to design and implement online surveys
- Mastery of business intelligence tools, including Tableau, Argos, etc.
- Ability to understand and develop SQL queries
- Ability to consult with non-researchers to define research problems
- Ability to present and explain research and data findings to non-researchers
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships throughout the College
- Experience translating complex analytical findings into clear summaries for many different audiences
- Ability to work with, and understand, complex datasets - including protocols for optimizing data hygiene and working with sensitive data
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and timelines
- Ability to use descriptive and inferential statistics to analyze data using tools such as SPSS, SAS, Excel, R, etc.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience collecting data in a Learning Management System
- Experience with Ellucian Banner or a similar ERP/SIS system
- Experience with assessment, including program review, in an educational setting
- Bachelor's degree or above in Data Analysis, Information Science, Data Science, Program Evaluation or related field of study.
