Scope of leadership role

This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Travel expectation is 25%

Key Responsibilities

  • Successful candidate will be able to develop, scope, own and drive a project to completion.
  • Candidate will implement new product development design and design and create manufacturing cells.
  • Candidate will have a working knowledge of lean manufacturing and be able to implement best practices.
  • Candidate will produce sound and safe designs, meeting all applicable design guidelines and governing agencies
  • Candidate will work to drive operational efficiencies

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assists in determining the operations required for more complex projects in fabrication and assembly of products as well as implementing cost-savings process improvements.
  • Owns the processes - creates capable processes.
  • May be responsible for the completion of assigned engineering projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines.
  • May coach or manage less-experienced team members.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves more complex issues, develops the sequence of operations, estimates time requirements for each, and prepares operation sheets.
  • Identifies, recommends and implements improvements and/or modifications in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related matters in order to increase efficiency and cost savings. Designs and programs CNC equipment to utilize to full capacity.
  • May be responsible for completion of engineering projects.
  • Designs new line layouts or re-designs plant layout.
  • May provide technical leadership/training and/or coaching to other team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful candidate will be self-motivated and driven; able to work within a cross-functional team.
  • Candidate should be comfortable and able to report KPI's to executive management.

Minimum Requirements

  • Technical Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience.
  • 10+ years. Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma acquired within 3 years.

PHYSICAL Requirements

  • Lifting up to a maximum of 35 lbs.
  • Occasional bending and lifting at the knees.
  • Sitting frequently at waist and shoulder levels.
  • Frequent reaching out in front of body.
  • Standing and walking intermittently.
  • Capable of wearing safety glasses with permanent side shields when on shop floor.
  • Capable of wearing steel-toed safety shoes when on shop floor.
  • Capable of wearing other PPE as required.
  • Continuous mental/visual attention.
