The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery

Job Description

Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is seeking a highly motivated, engaged, and committed Certified Athletic Trainer who is interested in joining a fast-paced, highly productive team.

Our Orthopaedic service talent teams include: Attending Physicians, Fellow/Resident Physicians, Extender Practitioners, Nurses, ATC/OTCs, Clinical Administrative Coordinators, Research Faculty, Research Technical Teams, and Students. Our clinicians have clinical locations in Columbia, Jefferson City, Boonville, Liberty, and Springfield. The ideal candidate will play an instrumental role in the success of sustaining our department's mission: advance the clinical, research and teaching components of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Missouri.

This position will partner with departmental staff to support the overall culture and advancement of the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute and C3 Orthopaedics Initiative (Comprehensive, Cutting Edge, Caring Culture), which fosters a fast learning and continuously improving organization to further our mission.

Position overview:

- Provide clinical care within the scope of license(s) and certification(s), standard department office policy and protocols.
- Provide medical information, direct patient care, and emotional support to patients and families.
- Supervise patient flow, make scheduling decisions, and assist with patient questions.
- Accompany and assist provider with patient care management during patient clinic appointments. Collaborate with ancillary services and other health care professionals to ensure high quality of patient care.
- Triage patients: Includes employing Orthopaedic and general medical knowledge to acquire patient history, perform physical exam, take necessary measurements (i.e. grip strength, leg lengths) and use special testing to form a tentative assessment and present to supervising physician
- Serve as first or second assist as needed on surgical cases (if and when OTC certified).
- Organize, schedule, and coordinate surgical needs between patients, operating room staff, providers, and vendors to ensure all necessary components are in place for operative procedures.
- Render follow up care and services commensurate with education, experience and standard departmental office policy and protocol.
- Support provider's research efforts: Assist with the recruitment and evaluation of potential research subjects into clinical trials.

Shift

Typically, 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday with the ability to be flexible when needs arise.

Minimum Qualifications

Licensure by the MO Board of Registration for the Healing Arts is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Credentials: OTC
Years of Experience: 2 years + Collegiate Athletic Medicine

Anticipated Hiring Range

Hiring Range: $51,875.20 - $74,496.84 / annually
Grade: GGS-9E
University Title: CERTIFIED ATHLETIC TRAINER
