Job Description

Perform electrician work at a journey level in the power and chilled water production plants with primary responsibilities including service, preventative maintenance, repair and installation of electrical systems associated with utility production

Key responsibilities:

Install and maintain plant AC and DC electrical systems including, wiring, transformers, electrical panels, generators, exciters, motors, rectifiers, stationary batteries, UPS power inverters, motor starters and variable frequency drives to maintain reliability.

Install, maintain and operate production plant auxiliary power distribution systems including secondary substations, draw out breakers, motor control centers and distribution load centers.

Install and maintain plant low voltage systems including distribution panels, plant lighting panels, plant lighting systems, and electrical apparatus for the utility production and process control systems. Replace interior or exterior lamps, as necessary, at varying heights.

Install and maintain conduit and cabling for auxiliary electrical systems, breakers, control and instrumentation, relays, meters, lighting and receptacles.

Install and maintain plant communication systems including multi-channel public address system, security systems including door and gate access systems, site surveillance and security camera.

Safely coordinate work with utility production operations to prevent upset and/or trip of the plant or plant systems following all plant safety practices including, but not limited to, wearing of personal protective equipment as required, following all lockout and tag out procedures, following all confined space procedures, and attending safety meetings and training sessions.

Perform other duties as received.

Supervision Received:

Administrative and functional supervision is received from a Utility Production Supervisor or Engineer.

7:30AM-4:00PM / Varies

Minimum Qualifications

A job offer for this position is contingent on passing a physical examination to determine if the candidate possesses the physical capabilities necessary to perform the essential functions.
* High school degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired, is necessary.
* Five years of related work experience, with sufficient experience, including electrician apprenticeship or vocational training, to qualify as a journey electrician, is required.
* Experience and knowledge in the installation and maintenance of secondary power distribution and motor controls, is desired.
* Persons in this position are expected to participate in and complete the utility production's electrician technical and practical training program.
* Ability to read and follow blueprints, wiring diagrams and applicable electrical codes is required.
* Skill in the use of tools, equipment and materials applicable to the trade is required.
* Ability on a daily basis to:
- Grasp, lift, carry and set down objects of up to 75 lbs.
- Climb and work from ladders and scaffolding.
- Work in a utility production environment containing dust, cold, heat, and humidity.
* Possession of a valid driver's license which allows the legal operation of a motor vehicle in the State of Missouri is required.
* Complete department safety training

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $20.09 - $33.79 per hour

Grade: GGS-F
