Job Description

The Immunomodulation and Translational Research Program in NextGen Precision Health, University of Missouri, Columbia, MO, is seeking a Senior Research Specialist. The program has developed various novel biologics and targeted delivery biomaterial platforms with demonstrated efficacy for tolerance induction to allogeneic bone marrow cells and islets for the treatment of diabetes.

The Senior Research Specialist will conduct studies that use novel biologics to modulate the immune response as a means of preventing cell, tissue, and solid organ graft rejection and cancer immunotherapy in preclinical models. Perform Protein production and characterization at large scale S2 cells culturing, expression, quantification, and qualification of recombinant proteins using affinity column purification, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, and Western blot. Perform cell culture, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, maintain mouse breeding colonies, animal census, and confocal microscopy. Assist with monitoring and organization of the immunomodulatory program, preparation of reagents, animal inventory, animal and laboratory safety regulatory issues, budgetary compliance and ordering of research supplies. Provide technical teaching/training support to rotation students, technicians and fellows. Adheres to all safety standards, ensures procedures are maintained for the use of controlled substances.

Additional responsibilities include preparation of standard operating procedures, quality control of research reagents, ordering, and organization of the antibody& ordered reagents inventory.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

A 4-year bachelor's degree and Master degree in a science field and minimum of 3 years of basic and or translational immunology laboratory experience

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $51,875 - $66,810 per year

Grade: GGS-9E
