THE ROLE:

AMD is searching for a Sr. Manager of EPYC Server Platform Planning who will help to define and drive our EPYC platform strategy and roadmap. This person will join the Server Product Planning organization, a tightly knit team of highly motivated seasoned and high-output professionals who collectively drive AMD's data center technology and product strategy. The success of the product team is built on ownership and delivery of results for the rapidly growing server business. In this highly collaborative role, you will work with technologists, engineering leaders, and key influencers at partner companies to craft the product vision and evangelize that vision internally and externally - ultimately launching a product that lives up to the goals you set!

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in platform/product management of server products with technical core expertise in silicon, platforms, and the software ecosystem that enables them. Success in the role requires strong leadership skills to empower and engage AMD executives, engineers, architects, marketers, program managers, finance, and business development professionals. Candidates are encouraged to have significant experience in the following areas:

  • Product Leadership - Ability to convert highly technical product value propositions into a compelling customer story and drive across the company to execute on that product vision.
  • Technical depth - Strong understanding of competitive server platform landscape in modern data centers, and ability to engage with the customer, platform and silicon engineers to craft products that support business goals.
  • Domain expertise - Core understanding of processor and AI acceleration technology and trends, server platform and solutions, and software technologies.
  • Business Insight - ability to analyze markets, develop pricing strategies, and build product transition strategies.
  • Exceptional communication skills - both listening and written / verbal - to facilitate alignment with a range of internal stakeholders and convey concepts and recommendations from C-level executives to working level peers.
  • New Product Introduction - ability to lead and collaborate to drive new product introductions, bringing new products to market in concert with the Server Product Marketing, Customer & Executive Leadership teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ownership of platform planning within the Server Business Unit.
  • Build tight working relationships with customers and partners to best define products based on their evolving needs.
  • Collaborating with engineering, business development and sales teams to synthesize market requirements into winning products for Cloud & Enterprise segments.
  • Developing product specifications and collateral
  • Collaborating with engineering execution teams to ensure product requirements, goals and objectives are met and exceeded.
  • Partnering with engineering teams to drive and deliver the promised value proposition and vision for Server products.
  • Leading product migration across multiple generations supporting consistent share growth in selected vertical markets.
  • Representing AMD's interests in discussions with key customers & partners

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Five or more years in Server/AI platform development and deployment at scale, and/or Data Center platform product management
  • Working knowledge of modern server platform architecture like Datacenter Modular Hardware System (DC-MHS)
  • Experience (or interest) in the business management of technology products and understanding of how the P&L works for a >$1B business.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

BS/MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science

MSEE or MBA preferred.
