The Center for Genetic Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time non-tenure-eligible Clinician-Educator at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor for Associate Director of the Graduate Program in Genetic Counseling. Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a course coordinator in up to two genetic counseling courses
  • Participate in recruitment and admission activities, including interviewing and ranking candidates
  • Serve as an academic advisor for at least 5 students per cohort
  • Serve as a thesis advisor/committee member for up to 3 students per cohort
  • Coordinate professional development and advancement activities for program faculty
  • Assist in development and/or sustaining collaborations with other Northwestern University programs
  • Assist in implementation of current Strategic Plan goals and activities
  • Assist in maintaining ACGC Accreditation standards for our program
  • Attend Advisory Board meetings and serve on various committees
  • Assist the Program Director with other administrative roles and responsibilities
  • Participate in scholarly activities and participate in professional activities at a state and national level.

The Associate Program Director will report directly to the Program Director. Faculty Rank and salary will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. This position includes 0.75-1.0 FTE in the role of Associate Program Director, with possibly the option of up to 0.25 FTE in either a clinical or research setting.

Qualified candidates will have a Master's degree in the discipline of genetic counseling from an accredited program; certification in Genetic Counseling from the ABGC, CBGC, or ABMGG; 5 or more years of experience as certified genetic counselor; 3 or more years that includes teaching, fieldwork supervision, and/or research; recent training/coursework in curriculum design, assessment, evaluation or educational andragogy; and, current training in principles of diversity, equity, inclusion and justice. Preferred qualifications include relevant experience in any of the following areas: program administration/coordination, project management, program implementation/evaluation, psychosocial topics, leadership development, and/or faculty development.

The start date is negotiable and the position will remain open until filled.
