Description

LinQuest is seeking an Operational Planning and Exercise/ Wargame Designer Must have experience in Combatant Command (CCMD) or Major Command (MAJCOM) training, operations, intelligence, and planning activities. The role will be based in Colorado Springs, CO, or NCR. Travel will be required to support exercise events, approximately 25% of duty schedule. TS SCI is required.

Required Skills and Experience:



  • At least 10 years of experience with the roles and missions of either US Space Command (USSC) or US Northern Command (USNC) that will prepare the successful candidate for speedy integration into the Warfighter Integration team.
  • Strong candidates will possess experience with formal academic and on-the-job training processes.
  • Strong candidates will have an established record demonstrating an ability to work largely unsupervised, an ability to interact appropriately with all levels of the staff, from Action Officers to executive leaders, and proven ability to follow-through on all tasks. Further, successful candidates for these positions will be familiar in establishing Training Objectives for large organizations; familiar with Joint Mission Essential Task Lists (JMTLs) And associated analysis techniques.
  • Be familiar or have experience in devising creative, stressing, realistic and effective Master Sequence of Events Lists (MSELs; the "exercise script").
  • For wargame support, candidates should have experience in setting a "future world" scenario that is 4 - 15 years into the future; and be able to elicit the potential operational benefits from "notional" weapons systems or systems in early development.
  • Experience serving in Operations Centers in a Joint capacity is preferred (Joint Intelligence and Operations Centers, Air Operations Centers, Maritime Operations Centers, Army Engagement Centers or similar).
  • Fully cleared and active TS/SCI required.
  • A bachelor's degree and a minimum of 15 years' experience working DOD exercises, acquisitions, or operations is required, master's degree and advanced PME education highly preferred (e.g. Joint or Service War Colleges



Desired Skills and Experience:



  • Experience in a CCMD J7 (Joint Forces Development and Training), Service Command Exercise and Wargames directorate, or J3 (Operations) Directorate
  • Retired 04 and 05 with combatant command.
  • School of Advanced Military Science
  • A deep understanding of the Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC) including an understanding of the purposes and goals of the Concept Development Conference (CDC), Initial Planning Conference (IPC), Mid Planning Conference (MPC), Final Planning Conference (FPC) and After-Action Review (AAR) conferences.
  • An understanding of the Live, Virtual, Constructive (LVC) training environments and the usage and purposes of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) in an exercise environment is desired.
  • Experience in organizations that use non-standard acquisition process (e.g., outside the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) processes)
  • Example organizations using non-standard acquisition methodologies include Space Rapid Capabilities Office (SpRCO), the Missile Defense Agency (MDA); the Special Capabilities Office (SCO); and the Space Development Agency (SDA).
  • Previous experience on a CCMD, Field Command, Component, or HHQ staff highly desire
  • Completion of JPME I is highly desired, and JPME II is preferred


Compensation for CO and NCR regions: Starting salary ranges from $170,000 to $180,000 depending on relevant experience and qualifications.
