Department Information

Within this setting, the College of Education offers undergraduate and graduate programs to prepare students for work in public and private education, community agencies, and higher education. The Department of Elementary and Special Education is committed to preparing reflective educators who work collaboratively and effectively with diverse students in public schools by using current research to inform their practices. The Georgia Professional Standards Commission and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation accredit the College of Education. The individual hired in this position is expected to contribute to the college's goals of continued excellence and innovation in teaching.



Job Summary

Reporting to the department chair, the Non-Tenure Track Instructor of Elementary Education will be expected to teach various elementary education courses, primarily teacher-candidate field supervision and area of specialization. In-person field supervision will occur within a 70-mile radius of Hinesville, Savannah, or Statesboro campuses. The teaching load for this position is five classes per semester [fall/spring]. Excellent teaching and supervision skills are required, some service duties are expected, and there are no research or scholarship expectations. The position is an academic (10-month) non-tenure track appointment.

Required Qualifications

Earned master's degree in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education, Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Instructional Leadership, or Educational Leadership (P-5) by August 1, 2025.

Minimum of three years of full-time teaching experience in U.S. public school settings teaching students in grades P-5.

Experience supervising or mentoring pre-service teacher candidates and/or practicum students in field placements.

Ability and willingness to teach both online and face-to-face courses.

Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.

Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.

Preferred Qualifications

Earned terminal degree (PhD or EdD) in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education, Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Instructional Leadership, or Educational Leadership (P-5) by August 1, 2025.

Minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in mathematics, science, social studies, or English.

Experience supervising pre-service teacher candidates and/or practicum students in field placements as a clinical supervisor or university supervisor(online and/or face-to-face).

Experience teaching face-to-face and online education courses at the university level.

Proposed Salary

Commensurate with experience.

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
