The Talent and Culture Department of Leadership and Organizational Development at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Training and Development Specialist.

About the Opportunity

The Training and Development Specialist is responsible for creating and conducting training programs for the University system. The Training and Development Specialist partners with cross functional Talent and Culture teams, to create a welcoming New Employee Orientation. The Specialist also has responsibilities for administering the Culture Survey and preparing the University for the launch of the program. This position is hybrid, with the expectation of a schedule that includes onsite and work from home opportunity. This position is expected to work the hours needed to meet professional responsibilities.

What You'll Do



  • Works in collaboration with the LOD team and other Talent and Culture teammembers to create engagement and team building tools for leaders as well as training on how to build a cohesive team and foster a positive culture.
  • Collaborates with the other LOD team members to obtain stake holder feedback on the creation of Live Trainings.
    Assists in the development of leadership essentials and tools to continue a culture of accountability. Collaborates with team members in LOD and leadership on surveys and needs of the institution to develop and plan.
  • Works in partnership with the Senior Training and Development Specialist to launch the Culture Survey as well as the tools and communications around the survey.
  • Lead the 360 leadership review process and how and when the program is utilized for a leader.
  • Develops training session for individual contributors to be delivered in a variety of formats.
  • Other duties as assigned by Executive Director, Employee Engagement and Solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in organizational development/leadership, human resources, or related field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in training.
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

  • Knowledge of curriculum and instructional design and application for effective adult learning.
  • Knowledge of developing training sessions for employees.
  • Organizational and intrapersonal skills with acute attention to detail.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate cross functionally.
  • Ability to learn the University's organizational structure, strategic plan, priorities, mission, and vision.
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize, develop, and implement comprehensive employee development programs.
