Job Summary

Are you going to be one of the key persons to define future powertrains that contribute to the global GHG reduction roadmap? Are you passionate about commercial trucks and have experience with how they are engineered and used? If so, then a career in PACCAR's Global Powertrain Division as a Property Owner is for you!

Within a new team of highly talented engineers, you will find yourself researching, planning, and defining the EV and ICE powertrains for all of PACCAR's worldwide vehicle divisions. This position will take a global approach and requires collaboration within a diverse cross-functional and multicultural team. PACCAR is eager to advance its product line of internal combustion and zero emissions powertrains, and this is a chance to take a lead role in defining that plan. You will be a key part of ensuring PACCAR products not only meet the needs of customers but also those of the climate.

This position is located in Lewisville, TX.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to ISO26262 second edition standard to Develop designs for battery electric and Hybrid Powertrain
  • Direct building, modification, and testing ofPowertrain components and systems
  • Manage Safety Plan for Powertrain content
  • Support process for Development Interface Agreement as applicable for Powertrain components
  • Lead Perform Impact analysis for new projects
  • Assist team to Lead Support development of item definitions and perform Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA).
  • Perform safety analyses, including DFMEA, FMEDA, FTA, and DFA per ISO 26262 guidelines.
  • Development of Functional Safety concepts for Powertrain functions
  • Work with vehicle and system architecture teams to derive functional safety requirements and technical requirements from derived safety goals.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in automotive best practices for Functional Safety
  • Maintain safety-related artifacts/documents and perform review with cross-functional teams.
  • Support functional safety-related audits and assessments.
  • Position requires up to 10% domestic and international travel.

Qualifications / Skills

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree in Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience with automotive or similar electronic modules and /or systems engineering.
  • System engineering for control systems/code/architecture on heavy-duty autonomous or commercial trucks.
  • Working with ISO 26262 standard requirements to develop system safety requirements.
  • Creating and managing Functional Safety (FuSa) plans and development interface agreements.
  • Applying knowledge of Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Failure Modes Effects and Diagnostic Analysis, and Fault Tree Analysis.
  • Managing timelines and deliverables for functional safety projects in coordination with function definition and validation teams.
  • Pro-active attitude and perseverance.
  • Excellent Cooperation and communication skills in English including management presentation skills.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment, while managing multiple priorities.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Working with ISO 26262 standard requirements to develop commercial vehicle system safety requirements
    • Reviewing test cases to determine Fault Tolerance Time Internals and confirm safety requirements compliance with ISO 26262 safety standards
    • Using functional safety tools (including Medini), requirements management tools (including DOORS Next Generation (DNG)) and configuration and change management tools (including Windchill)
