III. Reporting to the Principal Investigator (PI) in the Gluck Lab at the Center of Molecular & Behavioral Neurosciences (
CMBN) in the School of Arts & Sciences-Newark (
SASN), this position assists the PI with the management and coordination of the day-to-day research activities.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
- Manages day-to-day coordination of study activities. Studies and develops interventions related to physical activity and cognition and clinical trials using multiple modes to improve cognitive health in study participants.
- Manages interventions off-site by coordinating with fitness instructors, researchers, and community stakeholders.
- Supports research across all ongoing projects, managing the interaction between the pre-clinical and clinical components, to develop sound processes for quality control and gool-clinical-practice.
- Works with the PI and other University personnel to develop and monitor research procedures ensuring that clinical research and related activities are performed in accordance with federal regulations.
- Manages the maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure proper functioning and that it is clean and stored in an appropriate and safe environment.
- Oversees and trains research assistants and works closely and trains other research members, including but not limited to, postdoctoral associates and graduate students.
The position is dependent on adequate external funding. |

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Requires a bachelor's degree in a scientific or technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and certifications and/or relevant experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Requires the ability to record and maintain data in computerized and non-computerized formats.
- Requires the ability to use spreadsheets, word-processing, database software, and e-mail. Must have excellent communication and client service skills.
- Must be knowledgeable about the implementation of exercise activities for older adults.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Five years of experience with neuroscience research in a clinical or preclinical setting.

Equipment Utilized |
- Regularly uses actigraphy, polysomnography, functional imaging, mobile apps, and devices, Excel, MS Access, SharePoint, Asasa, MS Word, and knows or will learn all the equipment, software, and specialized materials needed to support the effective and efficient performance of this position.

Physical Demands and Work Environment |
- Laboratory environment. Transports genetic materials to external laboratories for analysis and travels to other locations in personal vehicle.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 30 pounds.
- Compliance with all human subjects research and health and safety policies and procedures and completion of any required training is mandatory.
- Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced, customer service-focused environment with an understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the Center, SASN, and RU-N, and the role the tasks and responsibilities of this position play in the achievement of these goals.
