Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Assistant Vice Chancellor of Human Resources New Brunswick. Rutgers University-New Brunswick (RU-NB) is the flagship campus comprised of 12 degree granting schools, 5 centers, and administrative units, with an annual operating budget that exceeds $1.7 billion. The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Human Resources reports to the Senior Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration as well as a reporting relationship to the Senior Vice President of Human Resources.
The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Human Resources will work in a fast-paced environment, managing various HR functions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional HR services across Rutgers University-New Brunswick. They will be responsible for implementing and managing HR policies, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and providing guidance on complex HR matters. The position requires a proactive and strategic approach to address HR challenges and foster a positive work environment at RU-NB.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Serves as a strategic partner and liaison for human resource and payroll functions across all RU-NB units in close collaboration with University Human Resources.
- Leads initiatives to enhance organizational effectiveness and employee development.
- Works with the New Brunswick schools, centers/institutes, student support, and auxiliary units to serve as a central point of contact for operational and business process matters related to human resources and payroll.
- Works closely with a cross-functional team of professionals, including UHR, Labor Relations, Academic Labor Relations, to deliver HR services and manage issues jointly.
- Responsible for supporting units for effective management of policies and procedures across the campus and serves as a resource to problem solve and provide best practice solutions.
- Works collaboratively across RU-New Brunswick in delivering exceptional customer services, and guidance on employee relation matters, and provides accurate and timely administration of personnel policies and programs.
- Supports the Chancellor's Office in managing HR operations, overseeing staff personnel matters, recruitment, performance appraisals, promotions, and other personnel actions.
- Translates business needs and priorities into action through diligent project management and collaborative communications.
- Independently manages the above duties under the direction of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree preferably in human resources or related field.
- Seven (7) years of related human sources experience, preferably in a higher-educational environment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Working knowledge of collective bargaining agreement compliance, Federal FMLA policy, and University HR regulations and policies.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to be a self- starter who can see the big picture and regularly take initiative to maintain a functional working environment.
- Ability to work with a diverse set of constituents with tact, discretion and
- diplomacy and have a strong customer-service oriented background (including anticipating the needs of staff, managers and director and taking appropriate initiative when warranted).
- Ability to deal with concurrent deadlines and sudden changes in priorities.
- Effective communication skills with Directors, departmental administrators, and staff in all areas - at all levels.
- Abiliy to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, confidential office.
- Intermediate to advanced-level knowledge of standard business office applications including
- Microsoft Office Suite, e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat is required, as well as Visio.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience with Oracle PeopleSoft and/or Banner systems.
- Knowledge of HCM and human resources policies and procedures.
