Job Description:

Summary:

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing EHS programs and procedures along with continuously assessing performance through audits and inspections to verify comprehension of Entegris global policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Additional responsibility will include environmentalcompliance and hazardous waste management.

The position will play a critical role in creating an injury free work environment, promoting new initiatives, and achieving industry best performance. This position will also drive a proactive culture in creating a sustainable environmentally compliant and solution driven operation. This position is also one of the key members participating on the site's Safety Leadership Teams including Emergency Response, Ergonomics, and applicable safety committees.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Ensure compliance with employee occupational health and safety and environmental laws, rules and regulations, applicable company policies and procedures.

  • Lead the implementation and management of site wide EHS programs such as corporate EHS Programs, training, incident investigation, auditing, and performance evaluation for the site. Drive a culture of EHS excellence and secures engagement and buy-in among site employees and leadership.

  • Leads the Chaska Ergonomics team, drives risk assessments, prioritizes risk, drives change to closure making data driven decisions and ensuring the team is active, engaged and recognized.

  • Assist in delivering EHS trainings related to compliance including New Hire Orientation.

  • Take proactive action to implement immediate and effective corrective actions to eliminate safety hazards.

  • Support the design review of new projects and modifications to existing processes and facilities to identify and resolve EHS issues, and incorporate lessons learned from prior projects or alerts shared. Lead efforts to secure all required environmental permits, licenses and authorizations associated with projects and modifications.

  • Prepare EHS metrics reports that track the facility's EHS performance.

  • Interact with upper management to direct and implement effective policies and procedures; demonstrate problem-solving skills.

  • Be responsible for implementing EH&S policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal, state, and local laws, regulations, rules, and best management practices.

  • Have the discretion to shut down equipment, tools, projects, and such if there is an imminent hazard to the health and well-being of employees, and to protect company property and the environment.

  • Understand and appropriately influence company strategy as related to Environmental Health, Safety and Security compliance and program implementation at the site operational level.

  • Must demonstrate effective communication, working relationship development, and the ability to influence site management, front line supervision, as well as other employees. An emphasis on cross-functional collaboration, teamwork, and the ability to motivate outside third parties.

Qualifications (Education, Training, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Physical Requirements):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in occupational safety, occupational health, engineering, environmental science, or other EHS-related technical discipline from an accredited college/university is required

  • A minimum three (3) years of EHS program development, implementation, and leadership experience with a focus on industrial facility manufacturing. Experience working with OSHA, US EPA and state-level compliance programs and regulations

  • Knowledge of Federal and State Safety laws, regulations, codes, and best management practices

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships quickly and effectively at all levels throughout the company.

  • Knowledge of hazardous materials management and environmental regulations

  • Skills and experience in employee development and training

  • Ability to work with people in a culturally diverse environment

  • Demonstrate effective communication with Executive Management, Front Line Supervision as well as other employees

  • High level of initiative,teamwork, and ownership

  • Ability to use a computer, email, video conference tools and office software

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental/health and safety science or applied science

  • Primarily defined by key performance indicators such as site total injury rates, Lost and Restricted Workdays, proactive EHS performance (inspections and closure of findings), compliance to regulatory and Company policies and procedures
