Job Description:

The Role:

  • Entegris is seeking a highly motivated NPD Process Engineering Supervisor who thrives in a fast-paced environment where safety, quality and innovation are paramount. You will lead a team of engineers and technicians in pioneering new product development (NPD) projects. This role is critical in driving innovation, optimizing processes, and developing new products that align with our company's strategic goals. You will be responsible for managing projects from conception through execution, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Our specialty chemicals enable our customers to build high performance semiconductor products.

In this role you will:

  • Lead & Mentor: Supervise a team of chemical engineers and technicians, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance evaluations to foster a high-performing team.

  • Manage Projects: Oversee the design, planning, and execution of NPD projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet the company's quality standards.

  • Innovate: Drive the development of new products and processes, leveraging your technical expertise to explore new avenues and push the boundaries of what is possible.

  • Collaborate: Work closely with cross-functional teams including production, quality, and marketing to ensure that NPD initiatives are aligned with overall business objectives.

  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare and present technical reports, research findings, and project updates to stakeholders.

  • Resource Management: Manage the R&D budget, allocate resources efficiently, and ensure projects are completed within scope, on time, and within budget

  • Ensure Compliance: Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to industry regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.

In addition, your team will be responsible to:

  • Work with project managers to develop scope, and requirements and suggest a project budget and timeline given direction from the business unit

  • Develop and optimize processes for scaling up production from lab-scale or pilot-scale to full-scale manufacturing.

  • Design experiments and tests to assess the scalability of processes and products.

  • Collaborate with green-zone, operations and mfg. engineering teams to design processes that are efficient, cost-effective, and capable of producing high-quality products.

  • Optimize process parameters, including temperature, pressure, flow rates, and reaction times, to ensure consistent product quality and yield.

  • Work with equipment suppliers and manufacturers to select appropriate equipment and technologies for scaled-up production.

  • Design and specify equipment that can handle increased production volumes.

  • Work with project managers to coordinate and execute equipment installation and commissioning

  • Identify and resolve technical challenges that arise during scale-up, including issues related to process efficiency, product quality, and safety.

  • Develop contingency plans and implement corrective actions as needed.

  • Analyze data from initial runs to identify potential issues and opportunities for improvement.

  • Create detailed documentation of scale-up processes, including work instructions (WIs), process flow diagrams (PFDs), equipment layouts, and process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), among others.

  • Create and update process freeze documentation including capacity modeling to ensure processes developed will meet internal and external customer demand

  • Create preventative maintenances schedules and spare equipment planning

  • Ensure that scale-up processes comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to document deliverables in Accolade and ensure smooth transition from development to production.

  • Communicate progress, challenges, and solutions to stakeholders, including management and external partners on a regular cadence

  • Develop part numbers, routings, BOMS to track production orders for materials in SAP

  • Collaborate with CQE organization to support customer requests as well as audits.

  • Utilize structured problem solving tools such as 8D, 5 Why, RCA, Fishbone, etc to drive to root cause and then resolution in a methodical fashion for both product and process defects or upsets.

  • Train production staff on new processes and equipment.

  • Provide ongoing technical support to manufacturing teams to ensure successful scale-up and production ramp-up during pilot phase

Traits we believe make a strong candidate:

  • Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or similar

  • 5+ years of experience in R&D design, commissioning, and troubleshooting process equipment

  • Deep understanding of chemical engineering principles, including but not limited to equipment sizing, DOE, Validation & Qualification, and process documentation including P&ID, PFD and IPO diagram development

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Aptitude for leadership to drive cross-functional project execution and problem-solving while maintaining positive/collaborative working relationships

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, adjusting to changing priorities and challenges.

  • Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) as well as statistical data analysis for application to Qualification and Validation. Experience with Minitab a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead structured problem-solving using tools such as 8D, FMEA, 5 Why, RCA, etc

  • Familiarity with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory standards in chemical engineering.

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and wear PPE as necessary

  • Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally in support of various engineering projects/escalations (<5%)

  • Familiarity with handling hazardous materials

  • Experience managing teams preferred

  • Familiarity with sublimation manufacturing processes preferred

  • Experience with SAP is a plus
