How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
Cogen Maintenance Specialist provides support of GE 7EA gas turbine and balance of plant equipment maintenance, including the planning and leading execution of periodic maintenance.
The Maintenance Specialist ensures that facility assets are maintained in a safe, reliable, efficient, cost effective and environmentally compliant manner and in conformance with all corporate policies and procedures. This role will serve as the Maintenance TAR Leader in the direction of Cogeneration Facility maintenance TAR activities performed by AL, GE and Ethos, and act, as needed, as a "hands on" member of the maintenance team and provide craft technical support, procurement and direction in the following related fields: mechanical, electrical or instrumentation and controls during such TAR's. The position requires extensive experience in Gas Turbine and heavy industrial mechanical maintenance environments along with detailed knowledge of cogeneration plant equipment and operation. Direct experience with GE Frame 6B & 7EA Combustion Gas Turbines is required. Specific experience with Gas Turbine 7A6 (Air Cooled) & 7H2 (Hydrogen Cooled) Generators and Heat Recovery Steam Generators ("HRSG") are preferred.
Technical contact for LTSA with gas turbine vendors (GE/Ethos). Provide leadership and guidance to drive continuous improvement in reliability and efficiency of GE Gas Turbines and Plant equipment. Provide Scope, Planning and Scheduling of Borescope, Hot Gas Path and Major gas turbine outages aligned with GE. Model safety behavior; enforce safety rules; establish safety culture. Ensure TAR development and execution is properly planned and staffed, including interfacing with Safety, Engineering, Controls & Operations to assure adequate participation. Ensure all pre-TAR work is completed and materials are received prior to outage. Experience in building detailed job plans. Coordinate accurate work scope and resource requirements for Field Sourcing Services to provide cost-effective contracting of services and material. Ensure TAR planning is developed to meet the scope, schedule and budget requirements. Ability to work self directed and make sound decisions. Manage gas turbine parts in the onsite warehouse. Find and procure parts from a network of fellow gas turbine owners. Support Gas Turbine Maintenance, Parts and TAR's in the MRPL as needed. Support Gas Turbine Maintenance, Parts and TAR's in the Scotford, Canada plant as needed. Manage TILs and communicate to peers recommendations. Track fired hours on components.
Provide technical expertise of the following: Gas Turbine
Gas Turbine parts repair process and the ability to inspect and perform quality control checks during the repair process. Able to interpret Gas Turbine clearance diagrams for proper parts fit and and provide quality control inspections during field installation. Gas Turbine generator alignment final acceptance during TAR Bearing and seal clearances and quality control checks. Ability to use machinist protractor to measure and insure IGV calibrations are proper. Ability to use magnetic dial indicators to ensure gas valves are calibrated properly. Ability to use vernier calipers and depth mics to check various clearances such as gas turbine transition piece picture frame dimensions. During TAR's provide "Hold Point" inspections as needed prior to reassembly. Work closely with the contractor to perform Borescope inspections (GE/Ethos) during reassembly to make sure nothing is left in the machine.
Generator
Ensure support equipment is working properly such as Seal Oil, Coolant, and Hydrogen for the 7H2 generators. Ensure support equipment is working properly such as Coolant and Vacuum for the 7A6 generators. Vacuum for these generators are essential. Maintaining Generator Inboard and Outboard Bearings. Ensure Air Gap on generator field is correct during an outage. Ensure Gaps on Air Seals/Oil Seals are correct during an outage. Manage Generator testing: Flux Probe and Exciter testing. Maintain H2 purity control panel
HRSG
Coordinating with Maintenance on locating and repairing tube leaks. Procure and coordinate installation of gas fired burners. Coordinate repairing of internal and external liner plates of the exhaust duct as needed. Manage TAR replacement or repair of Pumps, Valves and PSV's. Perform infrared surveys of the HRSG looking for Hot Spots show inadequate insulation or loose liner plates. Manage Tube and Piping thickness survey.

High school diploma or GED required; 7+ years maintenance experience. Extensive use of the CMMS (Maximo). Experience in the execution of detailed mechanical job plans. Proficiency in the use of Google Chrome applications, particularly Gmail, Sheets and Drive. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Project. Excellent planning and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated interpersonal skills.
