Undergraduate Business Faculty
Position Overview: The faculty member will be a team member who teaches coursework in management and/or marketing. The Department of Undergraduate Business - on campus - offers mainly face-to-face courses Monday-Friday in the fall and spring semesters.
The faculty member will teach


  • Lower-division core business courses across the curriculum, like economics, personal finance, analytics, business law, and introductory business courses.
  • Upper-division courses in the field of management or marketing. The ability to teach one or more of the following subjects is preferred:

    • Project Management
    • Global Management
    • Operations
    • Marketing Strategy
    • Digital Marketing
    • Global Marketing




In addition to teaching, a faculty member will have responsibilities in some or all of the following areas: student advising and mentoring, professional scholarship (research and creative activities), administrative tasks, and service to the life of the university, the church, and/or the community.
Faculty are assigned 28 credits of annual workload. Faculty positions may include involvement in occasional off-campus or evening events and participation in activities with prospective or new students.
College-level teaching experience is required, and academic rank will be commensurate with experience. Professional business experience is required.
Course Instruction Responsibilities:


  • Increase student course engagement by providing a positive and regular presence within the course (at least four days per week for online courses) by engaging students through course activities and ongoing availability to provide student support.
  • Provide substantive and timely feedback on course assessments, following academic unit and university guidelines, within the Learning Management System, typically within seven business days of the assessments; due dates.
  • Respond to student inquiries typically within 24 hours during business days unless otherwise specified at the college level (48 hours on weekends, with closer monitoring if assignments are due during the weekend or on Monday).
  • Work collaboratively in a supportive academic environment, partnering with academic advising, career development, and the academic team to ensure each student has the resources they need to succeed.


Essential Duties:


  • Facilitate quality student learning by teaching assigned courses.
  • Collaboratively design assigned courses (with input from colleagues, industry experts, instructional design experts, and administration) in alignment with approved student learning outcomes that advance student learning, retention, and graduation that meet university requirements. Include strategies and methods that promote effective student learning (for example, active learning techniques).
  • Participate, as assigned, in the academic unit's ongoing curriculum development, assessment, program reviews, and accreditation efforts.
  • Demonstrates a professional and collegial demeanor in working with students, colleagues, and the larger Concordia University, St. Paul learning community.
  • Attend faculty meetings and development activities to enhance teaching skills, stay current in their field, and network with other professionals.
  • Provide service to the university and discipline as appropriate to the faculty member's role and responsibility within the academic unit.
  • Pursue a scholarly agenda appropriate to the discipline and the faculty member's role and responsibility.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Follow the university and academic unit's policies and procedures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Master's degree in Business Administration, or in a related field of business.
  • Experience teaching college-level courses.
  • A commitment to ensuring quality academic programs
  • Demonstrated interest and ability to work effectively with diverse students
  • Demonstrated ability to teach in the classroom and technology-mediated environments
  • A commitment to Christian higher education and to the mission and Lutheran identity of this university
  • Active membership in a Christian congregation
  • Demonstrated collegial/collaborative skills and a commitment to work in a team
  • Professional experience in management and/or marketing
  • Highly developed skills in written and oral communication and human relations


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Earned doctorate degree
  • Demonstrated scholarly activity
  • Teaching Experience in Management and/or Marketing
  • Demonstrated leadership experience

Pay Range: $59,744 - $96,973 per year
