Position Summary
The Department of Genetics is seeking an experienced IT Business Intelligence & Data Analyst to join a highly interactive, supportive, and interdisciplinary group of faculty, staff scientists, postdoctoral fellows, and students. This position will contribute to the Department of Genetics' diverse portfolio of research including grant-funded programs, potential commercialization opportunities, and partnerships. The IT Business Intelligence & Data Analyst will leverage data mining and statistical analysis to uncover insights from complex datasets. Responsibilities include designing and maintaining data quality monitoring tools and dashboards, addressing data quality issues, and ensuring compliance with reporting standards. The position involves managing EHR data quality, ensuring data security, and working with business application users to define and meet reporting and analytical needs. The role also includes overseeing the matrix reporting system, managing software and analytics programs, leading technical teams, and handling complex projects. Additional duties involve resource management , communication with senior leadership, and implementing change management procedures while providing training. Flexible work arrangements, including virtual/hybrid work locations, are an integral part of the School of Medicine's Working Forward initiative. As such, this position's work location is designated as virtual. Please note that the designated work location is subject to change based on the unit's business needs.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Master's and 1-2 years' experience; or Bachelors and 2-4 years' experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Data Analyst Experience is requiredExperience in oversight of data analysis projects
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Contributions to research as evidenced through the development and dissemination of software, data and knowledgebases, preprints, and/or publications Experience building complex software systems using microservices and cloud-native technologies. Docker experience is a plus. Demonstrated ability to work on multiple large-scale collaborations that include a wide variety of domain experts. Experience programming in the following languages: Python, Java/JavaScript. Familiarity with common relational databases and SQL, which may or may not include experience in UML modeling and object-oriented methodologies; and/or multiple modeling and schema languages. Data and schema harmonization strategies and compliance testing. Familiarity with real-world-data ( RWD) EHRs and clinical data models and standards such as HL7 FHIR, CCD-A, and/or OHDSI OMOP. Experience managing the architecture and flow of data, ensuring accuracy and accessibility. Experience designing and deploying operational data stores such as SQL Server, analytical databases such as Oracle, and a metadata repository.

Experience designing stored procedures, implementing, and supporting user defined functions in SQL Server Management studios. Proficiency with integrated development environments (IDEs), e.g. with Jupyter notebooks or R markdown. Experience with test-driven development and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), for example with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc. Experience with visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, observable
