DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Maintain documentation as required by state and federal law. Ensure adherence to pharmaceutical practices within the University of Missouri Health System, state, and federal regulations.

Maintain adequate control and accountability of all drugs. Resolve controlled substance discrepancies. Serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge.

Assist in the selection, education, training, and evaluation of current staff, volunteers, students, and residents.

Supervise, and review the work of professional and technical personnel.

Responsible for resolving patient safety reports, customer service complaints, and overall patient satisfaction.

Initiate and lead change within the pharmacy department and responsible for resource allocation and quality improvement.

Responsible for loss prevention, resource allocation, and quality control strategies.

Ensure accurate and cost-effective use of resources. Communicate with staff members, medical professionals, and patients about medications.

Maintain effective working relationships with departmental personnel, superiors, employees, and the public.

Develop, delegate, and monitor departmental goals, objectives, and programs. Engage in optimizing pharmacy operations by focusing on measurable results in the department.

Develop, coordinate, and maintain daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of unit coverage and continuity of care.

Monitor time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely submittal/approval for payroll purposes.

May complete unit/department-specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.

Pharmacist licensure by the Missouri Board of Pharmacy.

Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) registration by the Missouri Board of Pharmacy within six (6) months as a condition of continued employment in this job classification.

One (1) year of retail pharmacist experience.

Medication Therapy Services (MTS) endorsement within one (1) year as a condition of continued employment in this job classification. Notice of Intent to Immunize (NOI) endorsement within one (1) year as a condition of continued employment in this job classification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in a supervisory role. Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Residency. Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
