  • Non-Represented Exempt 12 Month, Full time
  • Hours may vary based on program needs

SALARY: $65,000-$85,000/year

REPORTS TO: Controller

SUPERVISION: None

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (experience may be substituted for education in exceptional circumstances)
  • Three to five years of accounting or finance experience
  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)and Uniform Financial Accounting and Reporting Standards (UFARS)
  • Skyward software experience
  • Previous experience in school district finance

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Controller, the Accounting Coordinator is responsible for providing professional, accurate, and timely accounting services that assist in maintaining the district's accounting system and the reporting of its finances.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Assists with all financial accounting for the district, ensuring timely, accurate reporting and efficient processes
  • Prepares, enters, and records deposits including cash receipts and accounts receivable invoices
  • Review and reconcile various general ledger accounts related to subsidiary accounting functions including payroll, benefits, accounts receivable, and accounts payable
  • Assists with the development and analysis of the costing model used in collective bargaining
  • Helps maintains cash flow records to ensure availability of cash to meet current expenditure requirements and invest excess funds in accordance with district investment policy
  • Provides the necessary documentation to establish tax exempt status with vendors
  • Enter various journal entries in Skyward, ensuring compliance with UFARS coding
  • Enter budget revisions in Skyward as needed
  • Assist other district staff with running financial reports in Skyward
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual financial audit
  • Assist with the financial accounting and reporting for federal, state, and local grants
  • Enter information into the SEDRA reporting system for special education to claim state and federal special education aids
  • Administer the fixed asset program for internal control and audit purposes
  • Assists with the preparation of spreadsheets and reports used in the annual budget process
  • Monitor IDEAS, MEGS, and other MDE systems and create and record deposit account allocations as needed
  • Assist with the semi-monthly payroll
  • Assist with the process for obtaining bids and quotes for purchases when required
  • Organizes and manages a functional filing system that ensures the safe retention and efficient retrieval of office records in accordance with established state and federal laws
  • Submit payroll tax payments and corresponding quarterly 941 reporting
  • Assist with the creation of W2s
  • Other duties as assigned
