The opportunity

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Graduate Assistant, Campus Communications. This role will support the Campus Communications team and the Office of External Affairs and Communications (OEAC) in content development, social media management, research, communications strategy, and general communications support.

Essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Content Development: Assist with the creation of written, visual, and multimedia content, including written copy, social media content, photography, and video to support campus communications and drive student engagement. Caption videos, design flyers and posters, and support video production needs.

  • Social Media Management: Assist with the management of the SNHU On Campus social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, with a focus on launching the new SNHU On Campus TikTok account. Participate in social media planning meetings to brainstorm content and engagement. Help monitor "SNHU On Campus" social media accounts for community management as well as social media trends and engagement opportunities.

  • Experiential Learning: Play an active role in developing experiential learning opportunities for students through partnerships such as the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion, Granite State Comic Con, and Vertical Challenge.

  • Communications Support: Assist OEAC team with communications plans, including content creation and distribution through social media, mySNHU (student portal), email, SNHU TV, posters and print pieces, and more. Participate in OEAC team meetings. Train and mentor Campus Communications student workers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Full-time enrollment in a Graduate Day program

  • Preference will be given to candidates with undergraduate degrees in Communications, Art & Design, Marketing, and Liberal Arts who are pursuing a graduate degree in a communications-related field.

  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud and/or video editing is a plus. (Willingness to learn these skills is vital!)

Work Hours:
Campus Communications typical office hours are Monday-Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm, with coverage for events on nights and weekends as needed. Hours for this position will not exceed 25 hours per week, and schedule will be set with supervisor week to week, based on the needs of the department.

This position will reside within the Office of External Affairs and Communications and will be located on the University's main campus in Manchester.

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
