The group's main business is the implementation of mission critical digital mobile communication systems for Commercial Communications customers; specifically support of Xcel Energy land mobile radio systems. Job Description

The Field Service Technician will provide technical support of specialized systems and product applications. This includes: advanced troubleshooting of software driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure and performance optimization of RF and Broadband architecture including, but not limited to, legacy analog, advanced digital P25 and data infrastructure.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsibilities include optimization and support of complex communication systems and software applications, including advanced troubleshooting of software driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure and performance optimization of RF and Broadband systems.

  • Maintain, optimize, test and document complex communications systems

  • Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with focus on trend analysis and documentation of results

  • Perform maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues

  • Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system maintenance, upgrades or support issues

  • Team with engineering, project management and sales personnel to effectively maintain, optimize and support advanced communication systems which meet or exceed customer expectations

Qualifications:

  • Network+, CompTIA or related certificate

  • Proficient in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls and bridges

  • Understanding of RF, telecommunications, and wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN)

  • Knowledge of computer systems (including hardware, operating systems, and applications) and Intermediate knowledge networking.

  • Proficient in the use of test equipment (i.e., T1 and ethernet testers, antenna systems analyzers (FDR's), communications systems analyzers, spectrum analyzers, Cat 5 and cat 6 cable testers, wattmeters, etc.)

  • Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems and networking equipment

  • Preferred experience with one of the following LTE or Private LTE Nokia system knowledge, Juniper Routers and Aruba Switches configuration work and experience

  • Self motivated and able to quickly learn new system types and technologies as they are introduced.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

  • Must have a current, valid driver's license and no traffic violations

Noteworthy:

This is a role than requires our Field Service Technician to be on the customer site(s) daily in the Minneapolis, MN area. You will be required to perform strenuous duties. You must be ability to lift and operate 25 - 50 lbs.

Basic Requirements
  • Associates Degree or Military Training.

  • Network+, CompTIA or related certificate.

  • 10+ years experience in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls and bridges with and understanding of RF, telecommunications, and wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN).
