Electrical Controls Field Specialist is needed for a direct hire in Savannah, GA.

Summary

We are seeking to fill the role of Electrical Controls Field Specialist in the Savannah, GA area. This role will include various controls work out in the field retrofitting control panels and troubleshooting control systems for municipal pump stations. The controls division is relatively new, so this is an opportunity to become part of the foundation of a successful organization as it continues to expand. We are looking for someone to be intrinsically self-motivated, a strong team player, a resourceful thinker, and hungry to help make our company the authority on pump station controls in Georgia.

Salary all depends on experience

Estimated Min Rate: $50960.00
Estimated Max Rate: $72800.00

Qualifications


  • This position is in the Savannah, GA area. Qualified candidates must live in or near the surrounding Savannah area (Chatham County, Effingham County, Bryan County, etc.).
  • Although 2 to 3 years' working experience in controls troubleshooting or panel building is preferred, candidates with no experience who have the basic education/foundation and who possess the right attitude and exhibit the appropriate technical aptitude will be considered.
  • At least a 2-year degree in an electrical controls related curriculum preferred. Appropriate working experience can be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Candidates should have a basic working knowledge of electricity and industrial motor control components and systems. Control systems as they pertain to pump stations is a bonus.
  • A basic knowledge of electrical safety and safe practices when working around electricity and electrically energized equipment.
  • Ability to follow an electrical schematic.


Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot general electrical control panel issues at pump stations, including pump sensor issues, bad motor windings or insulation, and issues with motor starters/soft starts/VFD's.
  • Perform control panel retrofits based on engineered drawings, such as:
    • Replacing old pump station controllers
    • Installing new power monitoring equipment, new pump motor protection equipment, or new telemetry equipment.
    • Replacing starters, circuit breakers, and power wiring with larger equipment and conductors for upsizing pumps.
    • Upgrading direct-on-line starters to soft starts or variable frequency drives.


  • Startup of new control panels.
  • Fabrication of new and complete control panels from engineered schematics, including mounting components and wiring.
  • Programming/commissioning variable frequency drives and soft starts.
  • Experience using meggers and multimeters.
  • Submit field service reports with detailed notes and pictures from every job.
  • This position requires overnight travel, about 10%.
  • This position requires weekend work when emergencies arise, about 10 to 15%.
