What You'll Do in This Position

Provide centralized fire protection test, inspection and maintenance services (including acceptance tests) to operating divisions and facilities in accordance with Manual 2Q, Fire Protection Program and NFPA codes and standards. Schedule inspection, testing, and maintenance activities with Site facilities. Scheduling maintenance activities in a manner that prioritizes correction of critical deficiencies and minimizes system impairments. Develop and maintain periodic inspection and test procedures. Implement a comprehensive test program for fire protection systems that includes acceptance testing and periodic inspection, testing and maintenance. Provide qualified fire protection technicians capable of performance of fire system acceptance test or to witness and approve such acceptance tests conducted by outside certified competent personnel.

Perform the requirements of Manual 2Q, Procedure 5.6, Fire Protection Impairment Control Procedure for planned and un-planned impairments to fire alarm, detection, and suppression systems.
Perform periodic inspection, testing and maintenance of fire systems and components.
Maintain a central record in the FPDS (or equivalent) of all impairments to active fire alarm, detection and suppression systems.
Develop fire protection acceptance test plans and procedures.
Modify fire detection, alarm and suppression systems per approved designs, when assigned.
Placing protected premise alarm systems in "test" prior to initiating work activities on fire protection systems and removing them from "test" when the work activities are complete as required by procedure or approved work document.
Notify the Facility Manager (FM) and FPE, DAE and/or FPC of any abnormalities observed during inspection, testing and maintenance.
Must be able to obtain a National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technology (NICET) License or Licenses in applicable fields such as suppression systems, special hazards or alarm and detection systems after working under a senior fire system tester for a minimum of 18 months.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance. This list of factors is not exhaustive; pre-employment information and security clearance requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

This job requires the candidate to obtain a National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technology (NICET) License or Licenses in applicable fields such as suppression systems, special hazards or alarm and detection systems after a working under a senior fire system tester for a minimum of 18 months.

Qualifications We Desire

College degree in engineering or technical discipline preferred.
Previous background with fire protection alarm, detection, and fire water supply Systems preferred. Electrical and/or fire system background preferred.
Ability to obtain and maintain a National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technology (NICET) License or Licenses in applicable fields such as suppression systems, special hazards or alarm and detection systems after a working under a senior fire system tester for a minimum of 18 months.
