What You'll Do in This Position

The Senior Safety & Health Specialist monitors, analyzes, and investigates workplace activities to support SRNS initiatives
within their assigned area, project or facility. This position may serve as a Subject Matter Expert in one or more subject areas
and may also take a leadership role for less experienced staff.

*Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understating of 29 CFR 1910, 29 CFR 1926 and 10 CFR 851
*Utilizes the hierarchy of controls methodology as a means to best implement feasible and effective control solutions
*Responsible for identifying and mitigating hazardous conditions that affect workers, property, the environment, and the
general public
*Incorporates conventional safety and health practices and a variety of complex features into problem solving and
programmatic planning
*Observes facility or project operations ensuring that all employee and subcontractors are performing work in compliance
with governing work documents
*Investigates, prepares, and forwards reports on workplace illnesses and injuries
*Anticipates, evaluates and controls occupational hazards in the workplace through job scope reviews, walk downs, and
general observations
*Identifies innovative materials, systems or processes to enhance the company's safety culture through research
*Utilizes comprehensive experience to develop, implement and maintain safety and health programs, systems and
procedures within a specialized field
*Prepares and reviews written programs, job hazard analyses, personal protective equipment assessments and other health
and safety program elements
*Serves as a resource for line management to develop and administer a proactive prevention program for accidents and
illness per company requirements
*Other duties as assigned

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance. This list of factors is not exhaustive; pre-employment information and security clearance requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

High School Diploma, GED, or other equivalent State Credential

Qualifications We Desire

College degree preferred.
Safety or facility operations experience preferred.
Sound base of technical knowledge of safety and health regulations, standards, concepts, practices, principles and techniques.
