What You'll Do in This Position

Oversee the compliance of waste handling activities. Analyzes waste streams and supporting data. Requires constant communications with facility management to resolve waste handling issues that arise daily. Responsible to draft and maintain the required plans and reports to meet regulatory requirements. Required to respond to internal and external correspondences and assessments, such as DOE, DNFSB, and SCDHEC.
Provide technical expertise to the facility to provide assurance that waste has been properly identified, characterized, segregated, packaged, and shipped to the appropriate receiving facility in accordance with the WSRC-1S Manual Waste Acceptance Criteria, DOE Order 5820.2A, Federal (RCRA) and State (SCDHEC) regulations.

Compile and analyze data for required plans and reports; develop the required reports for EPA and DOE for Pollution Prevention and Waste Minimization Programs. Develop and implement quarterly reports, annual report, and annual plans. Required to address internal and external assessment/audits on the content and requirements.

Develop budget analysis for Waste Handling Program, make recommendations for corrective actions and present information to DOE-SR and WSRC Senior Management.

Direct the development of the Waste Certification Program Summary Manual and the assessment tasks of the subcontractor.

Develop and maintain certification schedules, performance curves and charts. Develop new Waste Certification Program schedules for reassessment, program management, new waste streams, etc.

Develop and maintain waste certification procedures. Develop an update to the WSRC-1S Manual and WCAM procedures.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance. This list of factors is not exhaustive; pre-employment information and security clearance requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Qualifications We Require

High School Diploma, GED, or other equivalent State Credential

Other Qualifications

Ability to obtain and maintain an L Security Clearance.

* Current or previous SRNS Waste GCO qualifications, or equivalent and capable of obtaining SRNS Waste GCO qualifications.
* Must be capable of performing hazardous waste characterizations.
* Current or previous SRNS Chemical Coordinator qualifications or equivalent, or capable of obtaining qualifications.

Qualifications We Desire

College degree and relevant experience preferred.

Candidate must demonstrate us of computers and have industrial work experience.
Previous experience in the area of Environmental Protection (including waste operations/disposal) preferred.
Problem solving skills.
Oral and written communication skills.
Able to work in a team environment.
