Job Summary

Florida International University (FIU) (Modesto Maidique Campus) is seeking an individual to serve as a Sports Operation Student Assistant (Men's Soccer). The successful candidate will assist the Men's Soccer team in coordinating and preparing the team and recruiting travel and works in compliance with NCAA bylaws.

Duties include:

  • Coordinate with the Athletic Department Administration and serve as a liaison for Men's Soccer team with various university units (housing compliance, and SAAC). On issues related to each respective area.
  • Works with Head Coach and assistant coaches with the team and recruiting travel (including travel authorization requests, busses/vans, hotels, and food); game day operations for the team at home (away, as needed) competitions.
  • Follows FIU procedures in handling all ordering of supplies.
  • Reviews, understands, and abides by all department procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality for the department and all student matters. Treats with utmost confidentiality and sensitivity of any matter pertaining to academic and personal data of student athletes and any information either directly or indirectly impacting the University and/or Athletic Department.
  • Adheres to all State of Florida, University, NCAA, Conference USA, and department rules and policies pertaining to the position of Sports Operation Student Assistant (Men's Soccer). Report any known NCAA violations or concerns to the Director of Athletic Compliance.
  • Performs other related duties are required as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that logically relate to the position.

  • Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends and at locations outside of the University
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professional integrity.
  • Ability to solve problems independently.
  • Effective time management skills.

Student Disclosure

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.
  • Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.
