How you'll make an impact:

At SiriusXM, we're elevating our prototyping workflows to create more interactive, code-driven prototypes that bring future product experiences to life. While traditional low-code, clickable prototypes (like those from Figma) are invaluable, the unique challenges of the automotive industry require more immersive, functional prototypes. As a Design Technologist, you'll work on prototypes that integrate real audio content, multi-screen interfaces, voice input, hardware interactions, gaze detection, generative AI, and map services. You'll collaborate closely with our design team to translate creative visions into enriched, interactive experiences, using code as your medium to explore what the next generation of user experiences can truly be.

What you'll do:

  • Build highly interactive UX prototypes for next-generation product opportunities, blending real technology with simulated user experiences to make product concepts both tangible and interactive.

  • Incorporate production services, such as live audio streams, into prototypes, leveraging a Figma-to-Framer workflow.

  • Bring a strong understanding of technology services and platforms into the design process, helping to identify new ways to make product concepts more interactive and impactful.

  • Integrate technology into design workflows, utilizing advanced tools and processes to drive digital transformation within the team.

  • Support user testing efforts by ensuring prototypes are ready for evaluation, implementing necessary functionality and adjustments based on test requirements.

  • Prototype with emerging technologies like voice recognition, gesture control, and AI-driven features to create innovative and forward-thinking user experiences.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and engineers, to align prototype functionality with business and user needs.

  • Share your process with designers, software engineers, and other UX prototypers, ensuring that your work can be reused or extended for future projects.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest tools and technologies, ensuring the design team remains at the cutting edge of UX prototyping.

What you'll need:

  • Internships are open to current students enrolled at a university (those graduating by January 2027 are preferred) and recent graduates who graduated within the 12-month period prior to the start of the internship.

  • A deep understanding of both the design process and the technical skills necessary to bring designs to life.

  • An available online portfolio showcasing interactive prototypes.

  • Strong familiarity with Figma, including components, design systems, auto layout, and variables.

  • Experience with Framer, including transitioning UX from Figma to Framer, code overrides, code components, custom code, and includes.

  • Front-end programming experience, with coding samples in languages such as JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and React.

  • Familiarity with a broad spectrum of technologies, including but not limited to: JavaScript, HTML/CSS, React, and potentially emerging platforms or frameworks.

  • Experience with prototyping physical or hardware interfaces, including integration with real-world inputs like touchscreens, voice control, or multi-screen setups.

  • Problem-solving mindset and innovation skills, especially in tackling complex, real-world automotive UX challenges.

  • Familiarity with motion design principles, understanding how to incorporate transitions, animations, and other dynamic elements into prototypes.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills.

  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and pushing the boundaries of digital design.

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S.
