Job Summary **** WILLIAMS CAMPUS**** The Bio Lab Tech Sr. organizes and prepares materials equipment used in Bio teaching labs. This position is targeted with course setups which include Gen Biology, Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology. The Lab Tech Sr. will lead a full-time Lab Tech and part-time lab staff. The Lab Tech Sr. will work with a diverse population of faculty, staff and students in multiple labs at multiple locations. Essential Functions 40% - Prepares setups for Biology Labs and cleans lab setups. This includes preparing chemicals, reagents, cultures, microbial media, supplies and equipment used for instruction in various Biology labs; clean labs and properly dispose of lab materials, chemicals, cultures, supplies, equipment and waste products; 20% - Maintain and repair equipment; maintain inventory of supplies and materials, including purchasing. Perform preventative maintenance. Care for plants, animals, and preserved specimens as needed. Research sources of supply by contacting science lab vendors. Receive deliveries of supplies and equipment; 15% - Leads other lab support staff including at least one full-time lab technician and part-time lab staff by providing work directions. 10% Maintains a safe lab environment by following safety regulations and recommended practices; remain up-to-date on training. 10% Interact with faculty and staff to optimize lab operations; 5% Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of experience such as providing assistance to students in an instructional setting; and/or preparing, maintaining and delivering equipment, supplies or other related instructional materials used for laboratory activities in area of assignment. An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Desired Qualifications 1. Associate degree or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in a Science field. 2. Two (2) years of academic or industrial laboratory experience, including the handling and storage of hazardous chemicals and adherence to basic lab safety procedures. 3. Experience in science laboratory operations in the context of a teaching lab. 4. Experience in the care and maintenance of invertebrates, small vertebrates and plants. 5. Experience in the preparation, maintenance, and proper disposal of microbial cultures. 6. Experience leading or supervising others in a science-related area. 7. Background in Chemistry, Biochemistry, and/or Microbiology.
